Them not even offering a yearly rate discount tells me that in their minds this is as low as they could possibly go and they would actually want the price to be even higher still.
Were y'all expecting them to offer day one games for $10 or $15 a month forever? All these the sky is falling posts over a premium subscription when new games are $70 a piece

No one was expecting them to offer that forever; At least Sony stans weren't.
You're missing the point.
Game pass has been laughed at for being an unsustainable rental service for a long time now. Even at $20 a month it begged the question if renting these games made more sense than outright buying them.
We're just seeing it become more obvious.
Xbots have touted "the best deal in gaming" for years. Of course it's going to be a major talking point when the price gets hiked 50%.

This never made sense and still doesn't.
Why does gamepass price have to remain static in order to prove its profitable while every other single sub service price increases overtime. Legit the only sub I can think of that came close is Planet Fitness and guess what they raised their prices last year :mjlol: sub services have never been static prices that don't increase.

Gamepass just went from an incredibly good deal to a good

Depending on your usage it's still a good deal. Just went from the best deal in gaming to the more expensive best deal in gaming. Lol people complain every time Netflix raises the prices and it's still cheaper than buying one Blu-ray a month or going out to the movies.

You think this is the end of price increases?

"49.99 and you get the included benefit of 3000 MUT points"

:dahell: Sub prices are inflationary, they never go down. They just offer lower tier options. So no, I've never thought that with any sub service.

I don't mind sub prices going up if they offer a reasonable free tier.

The business focus should always be on extracting revenue out of the whales and enthusiasts, encouraging conversion, rather than trying to extract revenue from everyone.

When the price of entry goes up at all tiers, you're just making your product less appealing, especially if there's little to no value added.

What'll happen much sooner is ads during loading screens and ads when you pause the game.

Also, Imagine getting washed by a boss and the game over screen says "watch this 30 second ad to stay in the battle and revive from here instantly with 80% health. :dead:
Nah Revy. You maybe joking, but I've seen you be hyperbolic before and then reality surpasses it.

There's still the basic plan for $10 if you just want online multiplayer
