{RUMOUR} Xbox (new) hardware is up in the air, more retail stores will pull Xbox from sale and MS is becoming 100% a third party publisher

you mean like everyone said gamepass was going to be for years
the only problem I see is 2026 which was never a console refresh in the first place

people are constantly lying to themselves everytime I get on this website
if xbox does sell hardware and everyone complains, and they put gamepass on PC and try for nintendo and streaming
then raise the price, of course they are going to try to go full streaming, thats what people have been saying for 3-4 years. Why buy an xbox when I can just grab a controller and stream from my TV

Not trolling.
Went to Walmart this morning and they only had Xbox controllers.
Not a single xbox game or xbox console in sight.
They didnt even have a section for them.
Only sections were a full wall for Switch and Switch 2 and a half a wall for PS5.

90+% of xbox game sales are digital, playstation not too far behind.

Not one person here walked into a retail store and purchased gaming hardware.

Physical space for gaming products will continue to shrink as it’s been over the last decade or so.

:dahell:I bought a Series X, a PS5, and PSVR2 in person in a retail store.
Also 90% of xbox game sales don't exist. Ya'll rent you're games, that's why the price of the brick went up.

But more to the serious point. I don't think hardware not being on shelves is a sign of failure on its own.
DVD sections in stores are virtually non-existent and people are still watching movies and tv shows.

Shifting the conversation further from the point; The distribution model of competing for floor space at a traditional retailer doesn't make as much sense anymore in the world of Amazon same day and next day delivery.
I wouldn't be surprised if in the very near future Amazon offers an option to pick up your stuff within an hour at one of their warehouses and your entire order is picked off of shelves by robot arms, placed on a conveyor belt, brought to you at a desk where you scan your Amazon app QR code, grab your stuff and bounce without interacting with a single human.

You a weirdo. You are the 5%

Electronics stores have all but died at this point cause nobody walking into the store to buy electronics anymore.

Cult lies.

This was my point.

Dedicating retail space to a Market that has clearly gone digital is a waste of money/space.

With or without xbox hardware woes this is the trajectory we’ve been on for decades now.
