Rumoured Garnett Deal

Feel free to take this with a grain of salt, but Stephen A. Smith is hearing rumors of a blockbuster trade between the Celtics and Clippers. The deal that Smith brought up on First Take would reportedly send Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to the Clippers for Blake Griffin, Eric Bledsoe, DeAndre Jordan and Caron Butler. Doc Rivers would also then sign on to coach Los Angeles. The idea behind the trade would be to keep Chris Paul from ditching the Clippers for greener pastures. (It works in the ESPN NBA Trade Machine, by the way.) Smith felt the need to clarify his remarks on First Take in a later tweet. That should tell you all you need to know about this rumored deal.

I know Blake has been in the playoffs the past 2 seasons and hasn't improved much, but they really going to trade him for a 2 players that are practically ? No way that this is true. Stephen A is becoming worse than these days. Really, trading coaches???

so the clippers would have $12M per year invested at KG at the starting center and $10M a year invested in deandre as his backup????

Im not a huge Blake or Deandre fan but why would Cp3 want to stay if you trade for 2 guys way past their prime who might be finished

Going from Vinny to doc is probably worth it in terms of upgrades

But getting pierce and kg really only gives the clippers a one year window to win it all, so I'm not sure it'd give Paul motivation to sign long term

Blake being involved is a long shot tho, can't imagine clippers would do that

He's never gonna start in L.A.

He's young and talented. He's deserves to go somewhere and start.
