2 types of people in this thread, those that have watched the games and those that haven't.

I don’t understand how people think Russ is being done wrong.

NFL is about wins and losses. Russ is 11-17 as for Denver. His play, while not a total embarrassment like last season, doesn’t justify the large guaranteed deal he signed. When QBs don’t play up to par, they get benched.

Russ still gets his guaranteed money to help soothe his bruised ego.

Was Russ really that bad? I don’t see any Bronco fans taking up for him. They say Payton’s playbook was to complex for Russ, he couldn’t make throws in the middle, and he was a check down artist

Broncos could have told him differently but they are right to move on. His salary just ain't worth it

Because you're essentially utilizing a loophole in his contract to get rid of him just like what happened with Jimmy G, Matt Ryan and Derek Carr before him.

You're essentially not trying to win games at that point and instead bringing in the backup just so the starter doesn't injured and fully guarantee the next year of the deal.

Broncos need to be punished for asking Russ to waive that $ to keep his job…nfl needs to look into that…if nflpa got involved means there’s a paper trail there
Punished for what? NFL teams ask players to restructure contracts all the team to keep their job and that isn't nothing new.

If anything, this should be a wake up call to the NFLPA and it's players for more guarantees upfront and protections from these types of things.

I won’t be surprised if there’s a free agency problem in the near future as a result of his behavior

The Broncos aren't obligated to continue to play a QB they decided to move on from.

And it's not like Russ was leading them other than elimination. They lost to the Patriots last week and have a good chance of losing out even if he started both games.

And it's not a loophole, they still have to pay him his guarantee to not play for them for the remainder of the contract.

:scust: TOLD HIM IN THE MIDDLE OF
A 7 GM WINNING STREAK
THEY WOULD BENCH HIM IF HE DIDNT
RESTRUCTURE HIS DEAL....

NOW SEAN PAYTON DELIBERATELY BLOWING
THAT PATRIOTS GAME MAKES SENSE.

THEY NEEDED A COUPLE OF LS
TO PULL THE TRIGGER ON THE BENCHING
BECAUSE THERES NO WAY THEY COULD DO
IT WHILE THEY WERE WINNING.

What good is a guaranteed contract if the team can still play hardball with you if you don’t change it when they ask you to?

You telling me I’m good enough to start at one number but at another I gotta ride the bench? Are you just not trying to win by playing the better player, period?

The whole pay system in the NFL is bullshyt.

Because the main guarantee that matters is what you get at signing. The other numbers are fugazi and can easily be wiggled out of it the team wants to do so.
