Charts are cool and all and yeah the US is "sort of" winning the economic war against Russia right now, but its really irrelevant. All those numbers are based on future speculation. So right now, it looks like shyt because of the sanctions. Whats not shown are the gains Putin has made. He's much closer to China and they have huge deals going on. He's gained power by showing off his military. He's gaining worldwide recognition for his input in Syria. Once the sanctions roll over, Russia will be in a tremendous position to catapult itself much higher than it was before this ordeal started.
if you say so.

and "sort of" huh? good time for you to go repatriate the homeland then since they are on the come up.

The nationalists in Russia have wet dreams about the sanctions, being removed from the financial system as well.

It's a declaration of economic war, and the opportunity to get rid of the straight jacket of rules and regulations forced on Russia in 1991 during the Yeltsin years.

Putin as a lawyer likes to do things by the book methodically so he has been slow to move even though he is clearly sympathetic to the nationalist camp.

Advisor Sergie Glazyev is one such nationalist and he holds the West in utter contempt, has zero respect for them and would love a full blown economic war not the current scuffle we have today. He was one of the first people put under U.S. sanctions last year during the Ukraine crisis by the Obama administration.

The Kommersant National Security Committee had a debate about the budget for 2016 and to troll the West they invited Glazyev to the debate to present his ideas.

Russia's Budget Debate Takes an Unexpected Turn

THIS is basically the message.

Russia welcomes a full scale economic war, because its in its long term interest to free itself from western rules and regulations and control over its currency and banking system. The sanctions fit in with their long term plan because they are actively looking for alternatives and partnerships. The Eurasian strategists are giddy about the China being Russia's BFF and the Iran Deal is a huge victory because it is at the heart of it all.

Also because the damage done to the EU will be far greater than Russia.
It will kill the EU, give the US a bloody nose, and Russia will be bruised and battered with black eye, but will be free to grow at very high rates in the future. Like @Ill is saying.

Half of this plan have already been put into action. The alternative to SWIFT is online, and a new credit card issuer payment system from Visa and Mastercard is coming online and will work with Chinapay.

The Ruble has stabilized and the government did not waste its hard currency trying to prop up the Ruble, but let it slide.
They even raised interest rates sharply to 17% as a surprise stab in the back for the speculators. A lot of Pro-Western politicians have even started to pretend to be more nationalistic and anti-Western rhetoric than Putin but these are the same oligarchs that benefitted from the Yeltsin years. Examples of these people are Navalny, Liminov and Kasparof.

Like someone else on this topic said, the Russians have stomached a lot in their history and recent history. This recession hasn't hurt Putin's support domestically at all. Talking to Russian students here in DC, they've told me plenty of times they know people are hurting but by 2017, things will be much different. I'm like well damn :leon:

Where are you getting all this? Russia is getting their asses kicked financially. And, not just the government; but the oligarchs Putin is in a financial marriage with. These are the billionaires seeing their assets locked up when they're jet setting. Just because Putin is talking out of his ass and waving his dikk around on TV doesn't mean he's winning.

Don't forget how quiet shyt got in Ukraine.

Putin is building a second base near the Ukraine border from which to mount military offenses into the country. People may not be paying attention to the situation in Ukraine because our news media seems only capable of following 2-3 stories at a time but Russia isn't letting up at all.

Who said anything about winning? They're taking the punches and the sanctions have hit the country hard. But they do have the stomach for it and all of Russia's moves especially the Eurasian strategy, the partnership with China, and all of the other deals going on looking East is what Russia is aiming to do.

Everything the Russians are doing seems to be them WANTING more sanctions so that they can be eliminated from the financial system.

Which is why Turkey is getting those missiles put back if Russia keeps fukking around. Iran asked for them to be removed, but we might leave them there
