I literally just went to Nashville last week for my kids Spring Break trip. We've been doing road trips the last 2 years

We went to the National Museum of African American Music and that was a PERFECT primer for this film. Ironically enough, the featured exhibit going on right now is called Roots and it chronicles the history of black music dating back to West Africa on to current day. It's a dope ass experience and made the message for this film land perfectly for me.

I didn't know when I was going to get to see this movie, but today the Mrs and I caught a matinee when the kids went back to school and I was like Coogler definitely was inspired by the Roots exhibit because the Sinners connects and extends everything they have on display to the TEE.

Just found the video on YouTube from the exhibit for those who of course can't make it to Nashville to experience it...

Just came back from seeing this. I thought it was dope. I’m not some big vampire flick person, and I can probably count on one hand the number of vampire movies and series I’ve seen. Thing about it is, you don’t need to be into those movies to enjoy this film.

It's a horror movie filled with a lot of love and tenderness

i really enjoyed this movie. my only issue is that it felt like 3 different movies supercut into one. the first part - house party in jim crow mississippi was my favorite part. if they could have done a complete movie on the juke joint hopping, that would have been dope. the vampire part dope, but there felt like a lot of lore exists and we dont know any of it. mainly the chocktaws involvement with hunting them and where they were when all this shyt was going down at the juke joint. the main antagonist was way more empathetic than he should have been the last part with the klan felt totally unneeded, but it was dope to see the fukkers get massacred.

im gonna need to see it again. one criticism that ive seen is that someone said this is like the black version of from dusk til dawn, which i dont know what movie they were watching, because outside of being vampires, i dont see the comparison in the slightest. does coogler plan on turning this into a series? it feels like he didnt answer things so he can deal with them later

They did a good job of highlighting that they weren't trying to fukk with dude after the sun went down.

:hubie:

They knew what he was, but after he got inside their crib they were like aight good luck with that and split.

They weren't trying to fight them mfers at night breh

I get that. But if you know how his abilities work, as well how he works, then nighttime or not, its easier to take him at lower numbers than it is for him to roam for a night. Look at all the people he turned in one night. If it wasn't for the kid keeping him around and unaware of what time it was, they would go to sleep for the day with even greater numbers for the next night. If they survived they definitely would have hit the town the next night especially considering his evangelical approach to turning people. And that hive mind shyt would make it even harder to stop him.
