Black Bag was boring as shyt. Michael Fassbender literally made the same movie/tv series three times in a row (e.g. The Killer, Black Bag, The Agency).

So far this year, I watched Drop, Locked, Hell of a Summer, Mickey 17, Novocaine, Den of Thieves II, Nosferatu, Until Dawn, and Heart Eyes in theaters. I enjoyed Heart Eyes, Den of Thieves, Novocaine, and Drop. Nosferatu had the aesthetic/ambiance you'd want in a horror movie but, something about it felt blah. In comparison, Sinners is a grade above all of those films breh. The plot was better. The cinematography was gorgeous. The characters stayed with you afterward which is not something you can say about Until Dawn or Heart Eyes, for example, and that's why Sinners went viral and those movies didn't.
Sinners has too many plot holes to be perfect to me. Even Mickey 17 and Novocaine tied it together better.

Black Bag fills my spy niche.

Sinners is going viral specifically because of black people who haven’t been to theaters in years making a trek out there.

I’m in theaters all the times and they’re EMPTY, especially with black movies.

They didn’t even go see ONE OF THEM DAYS like this...

Dont let your (and my) affinity for this movie blind you from places where it CLEARLY could be better  If we want more black film, we should request absolute mastery and perfection. We can’t shave corners

nikka please they didn’t eat anybody.

Most of the “deaths” which was really just infecting a person to join “the family” was done OFF screen.

The vampires did more talking and negotiating than actual hunting.

So where exactly was the horror in the movie with regards to the vampires?:unimpressed:

The movie has horror elements but it is not a horror movie. People who don’t even like horror movies could watch this movie with no problem.

Strong 4/5. It’s not a 5/5.

For the masses it’s gonna be a classic.
i enjoyed it and kinda wish I seen it in iMax to fully see the visuals

Other than that this movie is far from perfect and there were parts of the story that lost me or just didn’t make sense. Not sure why he never revisited the Natives chasing down the vampire, it really could have added to the story and a possible cliffhanger near the end.

The music was really dope tho

the final shoot out really needs better integration. Thats one glaring fault for me.

See, when I learned they only spent 4 months from inception to filming…it makes sense because they clearly rushed it. So with more time, they would have had to have fixed that.

This level of ambition MUST be nailed only to be undermined by this level of carelessness.

People have to stop letting the symbolism overshoot the basics of nailing the plot. You have to make stuff that casuals will feel settled with BEFORE you knock the layered messaging out of the park.

The point isnt that him singing invites evil, it's that it transcends a period of time and unites the entire legacy of our ancenstors and future descendents. But because it's so soulfully transcendent, evil will also be drawn to it. But the gift itself is not evil, our culture is not evil, even if vultures circle around wanting to get a piece of it.

I think his decision to keep singing the blues specifically relates to the final post credit scene, where he sings this little light of mine. That light can draw attention from any number of characters and forces and spirits. But he's going to shine it no matter what.

This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine,
Everywhere I go, I’m gonna let it shine
All around the world, I’m gonna let it shine
Let it shine Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
