With all the details, world building and re-watch value( already seen it twice, need to see it a 3rd time in IMAX) , you would think this was a Christopher Nolan film….I wasn’t even thinking about seeing this movie at first…. Best movie for me since Infinity War..

Even the soundtrack is great.

Ironically he's thanked in the closing credits lol

Racism thats not about skin color or race. :dead: What kind of reaching ass babble is this?

Key word in Racism is RACE. if you remove RACE. its not racism.

just because something bad happens to a black person doesn't make it racism. This is just general evil exploitation
Irish dude wanted to music because it was magical and would connect him with his lost ancestors. It was a holy grail level treasure for him. he would have desired it regardless of the color of the creator.
You know I keep thinking….. did he have to kill all those people and was all those vampires that violent because he told them to be. Remmick was going to take those two white people and basically go where ever he was going before he heard the music. Hey had shyt packed to travel.

Like they are demons but we’re never told he is trying to get in to eat people. If they had giving him preacher boy he would have probably just left. Then again he should have sent the white girl to get preacher boy to begin with as well. Flipside Stack knew what preacher could do but kept his word with his brother. Like the vampires weren’t animals, just monsters.

It’s the shyt like that has me still thinking about the movie. :jbhmm:

What?
Do you know anything about vampires? WTF?
He didn't need to tell anyone to do anything. Vampires are like an apex predator.

Once again, this isn’t a typical vampire movie right.

You saw Remmck do a prayer? Normally holy water and prayers freaks them out and it was garlic hurting them. The rules applied here as the story needed, and some didn’t.

For an apex predator the whole thing starts with him running from the native Americans and hiding in a house until it’s dark.

Him and those two white folks had a bunch of stuff on them that showed they were going to be on the move. He was still running from the Natives.

At the speed he was killing and converting people, if that is what vampires were about there would be a whole lot more of them in the world than the story suggested.

Keep it 100 nobody at any point said they wanted to eat people. They called being a vampire, being free and treated that shyt like a cult. shyt was a metaphor for religion/cult stuff through out, and I once again legit wonder if Remmick would have gone after the Juke Joint if he didn’t hear the music and see the people dancing with their ancestors. Because it looked like him and those two cacs was running.

We also know he was controlling everyone but Annie dying scared the white girl she ran and stack made and kept his deal with Smoke. My whole argument is all that shyt happened cause he wanted preacher boy. The whole conflict was his doing and him controlling the other vampires.

I think race is reaching a point where gender is, in terms of certain people being unable to discuss it without heavily leaning on a set group of generic buzzwords of academic speak. Like how everything is "patriarchy" for instance.

Saying Remmick isn't racist is NOT saying he's a good guy. In many ways he is a force of nature-type villain. Something that used to be pretty common in fiction but has disappeared as writers focus more on humanizing antagonists. Which is why he kind of reminds me of The Judge in Blood Meridian, or Chigurh in No Country For Old Men. Coogler stated that he's been around for hundreds of years, which would explain why Remmick said that Christians killed his people. Christians purged and slaughtered Celtic/Irish pagans for many years. His history was erased and replaced, to the point where he felt that controlling the music was his only way to get his culture back.

This makes a lot more sense than the initial ham fisted attempts to turn this into a tale of using white privilege to exploit black people, or how the Irish (who at one point were treated like black people) eventually became black. That's not what it's about. But when that is the only frame of reference you have due to a decade of Twitter-based pseudo academic wankery of course that's what folks will grasp to.

Sinners has too many plot holes to be perfect to me. Even Mickey 17 and Novocaine tied it together better.

Black Bag fills my spy niche.

Sinners is going viral specifically because of black people who haven’t been to theaters in years making a trek out there.

I’m in theaters all the times and they’re EMPTY, especially with black movies.

They didn’t even go see ONE OF THEM DAYS like this...

Dont let your (and my) affinity for this movie blind you from places where it CLEARLY could be better  If we want more black film, we should request absolute mastery and perfection. We can’t shave corners
It wasn't for you, Napinderjeshragavan.

Yep.

Its the same thing that happened during the Trump administration and black focused content like Black Panther…the message overlooked the construction and quality of the rhetoric and communication

This is becoming a sort of cultural mile marker because many of us are so desperate for any sort of recognition, solidarity or acknowledgment.

Like I said earlier, it makes you wonder what the fukk people were doing in the theater because they couldn't have been watching the movie.

Went and preordered my digital copy. May not be as enjoyable on a big screen with proper surround. But cant wait to see this on my 4k oled screen and my 2.1 system.

Native Americans have connections to the ancestors and the supernatural so they are very aware of what he is and are hunting him. Maybe they kept him at bay from biting people. There are levels to it. There is a part of me that thinks he represents colonization even though the character is Irish.
