A blassic

I recommend checking out a film from 1929 called Hallelujah

I don't know if Coogler cited that movie as one of his inspirations for Sinners, but the staging and blocking are similar in some scenes

One of the most ironic things about this movie is how a fukking white Swedish dude was the executive producer for the fukking music. :mjlol:

None of the music sounded like authentic Mississippi music along with noone having an actual Southern accent.

Movie still was good but gah damm you literally a hypocrite to ya own message of the movie with a cracka ass EP of music for this.

He didn't really say much here.

This video, yea its 2 hours, but it goes over a lot of stuff including why Remmick was Irish.

Cliffs that I remember on why Irish
- Irish were the first country to be colonized by the British. Remember Remmick tells Sammie they made us forget our religion and culture when he says the lord's prayer.
- The Choctaw tribe donated money to the Irish during the Irish Potato Famine.
- Coogler liked the Disney Channel movie The Luck of the Irish growing up.
- Coogler likes Irish music.
- Coogler had an Irish teacher growing up read one of his assignments and told him he should write screenplays.
- The term mulatto was first used to describe children of Black and Irish parents.
- Coogler read about the Irish nationalist and likened them to the Black Panthers.

They also link their research notes here with links to the sources.

Amazing movie. That music scene with the different generations was one of the best scenes I’ve seen. That guitar player was the star of the movie for me I hope to see him in more coogler movies. That “I wanna taste you” line was bananas tho coogler need to go to horny jail for that one

Couple things, why was the vampire able to run in the sunlight in the middle of the movie but not in the end.

Only thing I didn’t like about the music scene is I didn’t need to see Bloods shooting dice. fukk that gang shyt, stop glorifying it.

And why do vampires never own watches? :dahell:

Honestly bro I’m gonna rewatch it for this reason. The music was really horrible in regards to placement. Like the worst I ever seen. Made me say I ain’t like the movie, when I might have just been Distracted maybe by the music. Me and my wife was looking at each other like :dahell:

Less of an issue with the KKK at the end in terms of story :ehh: after another watch. I had no problem with them being killed after a first watch  but I look at it a bit different now.

The "former" Klan wizard had a shytgrin on his face saying the Klan didn't exist anymore at the beginning of the movie. They didn't show up in their robes. This was a pure robbery/killing setup. The money part is why they didn't come at night.

Sun wasn't as bright as it was when we first saw him. Think the Choctaw just got the drop on him. Also he didnt burn up right away like the rest of him. Which leads me to believe since he's older he can last longer in the sun.

I do wonder if the Sun just came out much earlier than even they suspected. Convenient, but was God's intervention after the vampire mocked the Lord's Prayer.
My issues with the barn fight still remains.

It was approaching dusk when the Choctaw were chasing him and so the sun was less intense.

Plus the way it was filmed we don't know how far he had to run in the sunlight.

(Time past sunrise though ... )

The other vamps were being controlled by Remmick.
