Overall, I'd say the first 2/3 of the movie was great, but I didn't love the stuff after the asian lady invited the vampires in. Too goofy (how did 50+ vampires not just kill em all immediately?)

This has been Cooglers weakness since Black Panther, he doesn't do big payoff action scenes well.

Those overseas numbers are just tragic and whenever I see films with black leads do poorly, it makes Will Smith's 15 year run as the World's biggest lead even more impressive. That shyt will probably never be duplicated in all our lifetimes.

no wide release internationally no doubt.

This is a valid criticism of the movie. There is no big payoff vampire fight like you get in other vampire movies, felt pretty rushed
I keept looking at my watch waiting for the big conclusion…
it end up being the sun coming up and them vampires dying lol

I like how the first half of the movie is just a "hangout" movie

I don't get the sequel or prequel talk. The movie told a complete story.
There's an overabundance of clamoring for sequels and prequels these days imo. People want every aspect of a story presented to them. If there's a mention of a bit of backstory then we gotta see a prequel telling that whole shyt. We wanna see what their kids and their kids kids do next. I just think there's too much exposition when you start getting into all these extras. Sometimes self contained stories are all that's needed. Let your imagination fill in the blanks. I thinks this had a really good beginning, middle, and end. No reason to step on good dope. Start watering down your product and losing customers.
