I feel like the
mojo bag helped Smoke. The magic popped up when Stack tried to bite him.

Also are you saying that Christianity is superior to the ancestral ways?
Because Remmick prayed with Sammy. I don't think Christian Iconography would have worked.
I'm saying if you were given the means to ward off a vampire and didn't use it, that's OD counterintuitive 'cause vampires are vulnerable to crosses whether or not the person holding the cross is a Christian. That doesn't mean Christianity is superior to the ancestral ways, it means vampires are are vulnerable to Christian iconography. It also would be negligent to not acknowledge how the ancestral ways were blended with Christianity for us... I know many older Black people who follow a syncretistic system than being straight Christians or Catholics.

Annie threw pickled garlic water on one of the vampires, not holy water.
She said it was pickled garlic water after. Garlic is used in root work, it's also effective against vampires.

See? Wasn't no strict rules for them to follow, they just didn't make any crosses because the movie was more about hoodoo and African roots.

They was calling Remmick and the other vampires devils, weren't they?
They say if you scared, go to church
But remember, he knows the Bible too

Smoke was conscious, that was symbolized by the mojo bag. Smoke's love interest was the black woman, the root worker.
Smoke got revenge on the klan at the end, the conscious brother got revenge. Stack was assimilated as the undead by his passing love interest.

Nobody pulled out a cross after it was said crosses harm vampires... Preacher Boy didn't even pull one out.

To be real, I think all the people that got turned were sinners like they were more Christian than syncretic and conscious and more vulnerable for one reason or another. I think Preacher Boy was the syncretic one who had Christianity and the ancestral ways in him like Delta Slim. Smoke was.... Smoke was a warrior of the ancestral ways. Issa layered movie.

Vampires aren’t real so different vampire rules apply to different movies

So yeah, the mojo bag worked, not christian songs or themes.

Not all vampires are weak against Crosses. Look at the True blood vampires. The vampires in Blade weren't either. Did Coogler state that he was drawing from Stoker's depiction of vampires or the original Irish depiction? I don't think they're weak against Crosses either.

Did Annie mention crosses hurt them? Because I don't remember that just wood garlic and sunlight. I have to see it again.

Couple things, why was the vampire able to run in the sunlight in the middle of the movie but not in the end.

Only thing I didn’t like about the music scene is I didn’t need to see Bloods shooting dice. fukk that gang shyt, stop glorifying it.

And why do vampires never own watches? :dahell:
We didn't need to see no damn Kabuki dancer :mjlol:. This film really showed why black men need to be movie reviewers because we're talking about all the symbolism and hidden message, while shea butter Twitter is talking about colorism and black women saving the day.:russ:

Like it or not, gangster rap was an entire thing in music history.

Annie glossed over it, that's why I brought it up. Iirc it was the second to last or last thing she mentioned.

Exactly, the Devil knows the word and scripture as well as any expert.

:mjlol:

People really be shifting a narrative how they see fit.

No the sun starting to set, ( it is low in the sky) when he first appears on the screen. It doesn't seem that strong to burn him up to death but he has burns on his body. It is a fast setting sun, and the Native Americans knew it would become dark soon and know how dangerous he will become.

He literally drops into the frame, such a great fukken shot.

This movie went from Life to True Blood in instant :russ:

7/10 overall

The TV/movie idea that vampires cant tear shĩt up unless you invite them inside is hilarious
Cornbread is literally one of the funniest characters I’ve seen in about a decade in any show.
