Breh, there are African spirituality themes all through this movie. Slim and Annie are also played by Black British people.:mjlol:
there’s literally no african spirituality themes, hoodoo is not african spirituality, and there’s a scene with africans that’s 30 seconds that they also share with asians

it’s still a black american film with a black american lead and a black american director telling black american history

This film is now the template on how to skilfully integrate music, Joker 2 is how not to do it.
The music in Joker 2 was incorporated just fine. The movie had a simple plot that undid everything that came before it. Both movies are musicals though

Breh! Slim tells Sammie that the magic of blues wasn’t forced on Black people like Christianity was. “We brought this from home.” is literally the line.

Tariq got y’all heads fukked up.

that doesn’t equate to african spirituality or crediting africa. which is why they shared the scene with asians and white people.

in the beginning of the movie they speak about asia, africa, and europe and how there’s a magic that connects them all

point was music itself is a uniter for everyone

which is why Remmick who was Irish sought after Sammie, not because his music reminded him “Africa”, but to just a time pre colonization.

the movie has 30 seconds of shared ancestral spotlight and the other 2 hours are black american culture

but i know u nikkas can’t wait to tie our stuff to africa any chance

I got a question for the FBAs who have a problem with tethers. Are tethers holding yall back from dominating in this country?

Anyway, great movie. I don't care what that knucklehead in this thread said, there was plenty of symbolism, plus overt commentary through out.

The black From Dusk til Dawn. I would've liked a more-fleshed out head vampire though. Why did he just appear all of a sudden? What about the Indians hunting him? I wish he was black too though. The line 'it be your own kind' would've hit a lot harder.

The Asian couple owning not one but two stores had the theatre rolling.

Yeah, I really enjoyed this. The world building in the 1st half then the action, yes!

MJB’s best performance to date. I didn’t feel he was playing twins, I felt like I was watching twins. Shout out to the visual effects too.

Lindo needs his props, he never dials it in.

Preacher Boy thinks he’s me. I be wanting to taste my woman’s day too.

My screening was FULL. I’ll go and watch it again for sure. Congrats to cast and crew.

The way I tell if any actor is doing an excellent job with a character, is if I forget who you are in real life. For example in Black Panther I still saw MBJ not Killmonger. In this film he transformed into Smoke and Stack. Made me forget about MBJ. If MBJ and Delroy Lindo don't get awards for their performances it will be a travesty.
