It's honestly one of the things I most respect about Ryan Coogler. That's ALL our shyt, so why not?![]()
Hell yeah there are qualified FBA actors who could've made the cast, but that's a convo for another thread. We're celebrating in here, Good Brother. Are you really surprised? Are there even enough qualified FBA actors to make a film like this? Delroy Lindo is Jamaican, he just happens to be the shyt.
That was one of if not my favorite sceneYeah, adding the rock and hip hop elements was a bad move IMO. I understood what Coogler was going for, but it kind of took me out of it.

Exactly. Not even that, Coogler had the whole movie to paint Remmik as racist but he choose not too. He could have even had him join up with the KKK. Its very clear that Remmick wasnt suppose to be a racist figure and his motivations are wholly different than “I want to fukk with the black folks”I think race is reaching a point where gender is, in terms of certain people being unable to discuss it without heavily leaning on a set group of generic buzzwords of academic speak. Like how everything is "patriarchy" for instance.
Saying Remmick isn't racist is NOT saying he's a good guy. In many ways he is a force of nature-type villain. Something that used to be pretty common in fiction but has disappeared as writers focus more on humanizing antagonists. Which is why he kind of reminds me of The Judge in Blood Meridian, or Chigurh in No Country For Old Men. Coogler stated that he's been around for hundreds of years, which would explain why Remmick said that Christians killed his people. Christians purged and slaughtered Celtic/Irish pagans for many years. His history was erased and replaced, to the point where he felt that controlling the music was his only way to get his culture back.
This makes a lot more sense than the initial ham fisted attempts to turn this into a tale of using white privilege to exploit black people, or how the Irish (who at one point were treated like black people) eventually became black. That's not what it's about. But when that is the only frame of reference you have due to a decade of Twitter-based pseudo academic wankery of course that's what folks will grasp to.
Why do you even have to explain that lol wtfExactly. Not even that, Coogler had the whole movie to paint Remmik as racist but he choose not too. He could have even had him join up with the KKK. That Rod wave song for the soundtrack is tough and lowkey coincides with his IRL personality and how he treats the rap game.. so many ppl question how he could still be so “sad” when he’s rich as fukk and this movie shows at the end of the day money means nothingThe soundtrack/score for this movie is dope af. Lil breh that plays Sammie is extremely talented and imma follow his career now.
Coogler got another blassic for sure

Another great article on the meaning behind why the vampire is Irish.
Why Is Remmick, the Master Vampire in 'Sinners,' Irish?
