Why does it have to be 'either-or'?

FBADOS are unique and distinct, but we don't have to act like we have no connection to Africa, or hate on other groups of Black people.
Don’t sound like he’s saying it has to be either, sounds like what he’s saying is he doesn’t have to look to Africa to find an identity…. Sounds smart to me.

he's right. and we do ourselves a disservice when we do that. nothing wrong with studying african history, but we have our own history right here that we can see and touch.

there's a plantation in the low country in south carolina where harriet tubman led union gunboats down the river and freed hundreds of slaves. all the places where Black troops fought, where nat turner led his raids, where denmark vescey planned his before he was sold out, all kinds of fba history to consume from the revolutionary era till now.
