Maybe not the practice, but NFL workday for players is pretty much a 9-5 between practice, meetings (team, position, & unit), workouts, treatment, etc.

Yeah that is what I take away from hard knocks so far...Mallet has elite level arm talent...dude has a cannon for an arm and can make every nfl throw...and i can't even say he doesn't work hard cause he seems like he does...but it's like he doesn't work hard enough to be great and he really could be great because all the shyt you can't teach he has in spades...

I think he just needs somebody to push him the right way or just outright be told "you are the starter" from day one...he seems like the guy that if you let him know he is the guy he will play with a ton of confidence...but you make him "compete" for a job and he just gets all and doesn't care

Mallett is the type that if he was named starter he would work hard, but he isn't willing to work hard enough to earn it...if that makes sense?

This makes no sense. Why would you want a dude as your starting QB if he isn't capable of competing for the job. That's just not how the NFL works

There's no logic in handing Ryan Mallet the starting job from day one, none whatsoever

Him sleeping through practice is the perfect representation of why Obrien didn't give him the job. He noted consistency and confidence as why he went with Hoyer
