If Cena doesn't get hurt that never affects him, as they'd never hotshot him into the title shot and could have brought him through the midcard and uppermidcard until after Mania

I came in to shyt on this idea (especially the record breaking part) but it could have worked at least to a certain extent.
I would have extended it to 10 or so months though (night after Mania until night after Royal Rumble). Have Brock run thru him on his "last night with the company" on the night after Mania, and let him rock as a free agent and train for MMA or even go to NJPW to get some respek on his name then bring him back on the night after the Rumble as a serious ass kicker with a chip on his shoulder to interrupt Heyman's yearly "who's going to beat the beast promo".
It would take some real effort not to ruin the angle, but this could work with anybody. If nothing else it would bring some unpredictability back to wrestling which is sorely needed

Ryback was very over for a minute..why front like he wasnt?
if they had kept him undefeated either by not putting him in the match with punk, when they knew punk was going to win or just had him go over punk. he could have gotten over enough that a lesnar/ryback match felt big. break records? probably not, but it could have been big.
