and I'm pretty sure I heard RZA contradict himself in the past in regard to god Ra as well.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Liquid Swords is a legit top 10 rap album of all time. You rap like THAT and you’re solidified for all time. Its the same with Illmatic, Great Adventures of Slick Rick, Paid in Full, and Doggystyle. Sometimes a master proves he’s a master his first go round and doesn’t necessarily have to prove it again. Its rarified air to even have an album on the level of Liquid Swords lets not forget that.

Thats not to say he can’t be surpassed but every single member of the Wu gives it up to GZA. They bow to him as the architect that sparked the entire Wu movement that changed the course of Hip Hop music.
U got nikkas like Nas and Jay who been doin it for a 30 year clip. :manny:

That it is but you clearly missed the whole point of my post. And all the albums you mentioned are rappers who are still here. Rappers like BIG and Pac all we have to go by on is what they did in the mid 90's. But Gza as had other albums (Grandmasters being the only one worth a crap after LS) and he just has not aged his rhyme schemes well. People have to judge him off of all his albums, not just one
I feel this.

Thats not in contention.

I listened to the full interview and RZA LITERALLY said what he’s been saying for years. GZA is his personal GOAT but outside of the Wu fam Nas is the golden child. He said that Nas is the Bobby Fischer of Hip Hop because he was a master MC at a young age.

He also chose Illmatic over Ready to Die with no hesitation. Said that Illmatic is a masterclass in lyricism.

With GZA its just the fact that GZA was THE gateway for both 5% Nation and Hip Hop. He talks about GZA being 13 years old and already having learned knowledge of self and coming to Staten Island to teach RZA. He said that GZA took him to his first Hip Hop show. He talks about GZA being a master MC back before there were even a lot of rappers. GZA is basically his hero.

Like everyone else said it's his cousin and GZA is one of the best lyricists ever so yeah can't knock it.

But when it comes to MC there's more to just raw lyracism, it's also style, swagger and relatability so Nas will always be that guy.

What's he supposed to say?

It's his opinion. I know dudes in NYC, who have cousins who rap, who they think are better than some GOAT's. RZA thinking GZA can't be compared to any other MC's ain't exactly groundbreaking news.
