I still cant believe people are arguing no cap, and using MLB as a reference.
MLB, where stadiums are empty all over except for pretty much the Dodgers. Also, MLB, where teams arent just paying for the 25 players on main roster, but also 4 levels of minor league teams as well.
The Miami Marlins total team salary is $67 million. You have no cap, and you have no floor. So who cares about this team. Or The A's, or Pittsburgh, or Tampa. You hamstring the league with no cap/floor. SGA will now get $71 million alone.
Brad Beal and Devin Booker combined make more then SEVEN MLB rosters. Beal, Booker and Durant would have made more then FIFTEEN MLB teams. Are they worth that money? They cant win shyt, so why are they worth that money?
Is Beal worth $55m/year? Was Fred VanVleet worth $45m/year? Yeah, the top guys (Steph, Bron, now SGA, etc) should get more, but you would be taking from the other players, cause the owners aint giving away all their money. These top guys can and do also make millions in endorsements/ merchandise. And if you think these teams arent sliding them some off the books money, you gotta wake up.
People complain about the cap. If that goes up, the cost for us to watch games or attend games would go up as well. Your MLB argument is exactly why stadiums are empty now. No cap, so ticket prices went past market value to try and compensate.
So are people in here capping for the Top 20 guys, at the expense of the rest of the league? Cause if the top get more, the rest will get less. Just like everyday life now.
The cap is about competitive balance for the league. MLB has 15-20 DOA teams every year. Smh, ol' trickle down economics ass nikkas.
