I never needed anything explained, I’m not confused, I don’t agree. I support players getting paid their true worth over everything. No salary cap is not some unheard of thing that will kill a league like yall are insisting. The MLB has no salary cap. They have other things in place to help with balance and parity.

No that isn't what I'm saying at all :mjlol:
It literally is. You just don’t realize they it’s what you’re saying. That’s why you @Copy Ninja and @cyndaquil are loling @ unsophisticated talking points. It’s a backwards way of thinking. You’re siding with billionaires over millionaires disproportionately but not realizing that I have that same view for the poorest workers too. This is just a good example of showing how capital maintains power lol.

Back to the sports point - you think that without a cap you would have a league dominated by those willing to spend whatever to win and I’m saying that Real Madrid is rich regardless and either they spend that money to win, which their supporters expect or they say “we couldn’t spend more than this” and pocket the money. Moreover, your analogy further fails because Madrid and the team you’re comparing it to aren’t actually competitors. The Real competitors for Madrid are the teams it competes with in the champions league, which is dominated by bigger and more cash rich clubs. Domestic leagues are literally about allowing regional clubs to compete against the very best and it’s not necessarily about having a chance to win every year. Rooting for your team and dodging relegation is excitement in and of itself. There are realistically only 6 clubs or so that have any expectation of competing for a title every year. It would be like the Knicks competing in a league where the Connecticut Coli Bros get to field a team by putting our 6 carts together.

There are less NBA players than baseball. There are 450 NBA players and a max of 540 including reserves (i.e. two way players). There are 780 MLB players and up to 1200 if you include reserves. Non-veteran players don’t yet qualify for guaranteed contracts and many are on the league minimum 740K. On top of that - the NBA has 400 million dollars more per year in revenue the last I checked. Also, the MLB has a luxury tax that becomes more punitive the more you spend while not having a hard cap - this is designed to stop excess spenders. (The Steven Cohen tax. @Barney Rubble to address the point you just made about Ballmer). In other words, you can penalize excess spenders without limiting any individual player’s salary. All of those things the Dodgers are doing with contracts is to avoid paying the luxury tax for being a repeat offender and for being consistently in excess of the threshold - I.e. smart GMing.

The point isn’t that NBA players are struggling - there’s more money than ever - it’s about the very concept of capping someone’s salary. The average MLB player salary is lower also because the top tier players can get paid what they’re worth so teams evaluate that as opposed to being forced to give 125 million to Jabari Smith. I believe in salary floors - everyone should be fairly compensated and not exploited - but caps are something else.

I wonder if these no cap guys support monopolies...hmmm?

Imagine Apple buying a team as a loss leader and maybe breaking even at best. They be Dropping ticket prices lower than smaller markets, showing every game on Apple tv for cheap, Apple logos on Jersey's to sell more products. etc.

With No cap, It be a few real teams and a few staged/controlled competition teams. It's like Google propping up Firefox so Google don't get caught up in antitrust.

Who wants 4-5 teams stacked with the best players and all the other teams treated as farm systems for the richest teams? If you conclude because I don't think that's a great idea is 'siding with the owners' you're brain is cooked :mjlol:
Did you see the RM/Villareal salary gap? You want that shyt for the NBA?:gucci:

SHAI MAKING 71.25MS A YEAR....

BU BU BUT OTHANI...

THAT DREADED SALARY CAP.

Would like for your salary to be capped regardless of how much money you can generate? No you would not. Also, NBA players themselves don’t support caps on their salaries. A max contract should be illegal. It’s not way you nikkas can explain it away, the shyt is owners getting over

Yall keep forcing this scenario to where the league is ruined to justify yall agreeing with salaries getting capped. NBA players themselves do not agree with yall

I still cant believe people are arguing no cap, and using MLB as a reference.

MLB, where stadiums are empty all over except for pretty much the Dodgers. Also, MLB, where teams arent just paying for the 25 players on main roster, but also 4 levels of minor league teams as well.

The Miami Marlins total team salary is $67 million. You have no cap, and you have no floor. So who cares about this team. Or The A's, or Pittsburgh, or Tampa. You hamstring the league with no cap/floor. SGA will now get $71 million alone.

Brad Beal and Devin Booker combined make more then SEVEN MLB rosters. Beal, Booker and Durant would have made more then FIFTEEN MLB teams. Are they worth that money? They cant win shyt, so why are they worth that money?

Is Beal worth $55m/year? Was Fred VanVleet worth $45m/year? Yeah, the top guys (Steph, Bron, now SGA, etc) should get more, but you would be taking from the other players, cause the owners aint giving away all their money. These top guys can and do also make millions in endorsements/ merchandise. And if you think these teams arent sliding them some off the books money, you gotta wake up.

People complain about the cap. If that goes up, the cost for us to watch games or attend games would go up as well. Your MLB argument is exactly why stadiums are empty now. No cap, so ticket prices went past market value to try and compensate.

So are people in here capping for the Top 20 guys, at the expense of the rest of the league? Cause if the top get more, the rest will get less. Just like everyday life now.

The cap is about competitive balance for the league. MLB has 15-20 DOA teams every year. Smh, ol' trickle down economics ass nikkas.

The players literally signed a CBA for this, for the greater good of all 500 players in the league and not just for themselves.
