No one is asking the right question, asking if he will be better than he was in New York isn't the right question, the question is will he be a good starter? What's the point of giving him a chance to start if you think he will be ok? OK doesn't win in today's NFL, are people assuming he will be better than say Mitchell Trubisky? Baker Mayfield? To go from what he has been to even the aforementioned QBs is a pretty solid jump and both of those QBs need a good amount of talent around them which you eventually wouldn't be able to afford if he performs because then you would have to pay him. Teams waste way too much time with average to slightly above average QBs.

Look, his stats are mediocre and his performances are forgettable. Which young, black QB will be given that much lee-way regardless of draft pick? At best , a young black QB will be demoted to backup status by now already. Darnold is going to the Panthers to displace a black QB in Bridgewater, who is a better player than him.

Teddy, who is also buns, needs to keep Sam on the bench then. I haven't seen them declare Sam as the starter

He's missed significant time with injuries and an illness that only a Jets QB would draw the luck of getting. If you want to say his durability is a problem, fine, but he hasn't gotten any longer of a leash than any #3 overall pick and 2nd QB in a draft would get.

Those other problems affect a developing QB more than a vet. If he was in Year 10 still getting chances then y'all got it.
