i got my panny 50" last year. whats the reason for plasmas dying

Simple in 2008 when I went out and bought a TV the salesman at Best buy were pimping LCD sets saying that they were much better than plasma, got a Sharp Aquos and I felt my parent's Pioneer was much much better. Fast forward 5 years and again I was shopping for a new TV but this time I did my research and from everything I read the Panasonic Plasmas were way way better than anything on the market but once again every store I went too salesman were pimping LED sets and completely ignoring Plasma sets and when I showed them VT and ST60 reviews they tried downplaying it.

It's simple they make better profits on LED sets and the majority of people buying TV's don't do their research, I have people that come over and right away they notice the sick display on the VT and ST60's I have, I've alone made 4 people buy an ST60, I've also got comments like Holy shyt this looks like real life way too much or it looks so god it almost seems fake. No other TV will give these impressions.

Duuuuuvaaaaal!!
So many misinformed people towards plasma. Plasma>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> lcd, led
No doubt!
I am about 90% home theater use in my setup, so plasma is the best for me.
Sucks that they are gonna force everyone to damn LED's. Guess it's time for me to start looking into projectors.

I believe LCDs and LED sets also cost less for these companies to make.

"One problem is the difficulty of making plasma displays compatible with new ultra-high-resolution standards like 4K. And energy costs plus plasma’s fairly high entry level (about $600 for a low-end model) are probably what caused dwindling consumer interest, even though plasma picture quality is so good."

depends on what you're using the TV for and the watching environment. For a proper home theater Plasma is way better if you create the dark environment and all that. Playing video games probably not.
Nah. Good for that too. It just lost out cause its not as bright as LCD3

The good thing is that Panasonic has stated that they have a tv with better quality than their late ST and VT models in LCD format instead

The panasonic plasma's at the end of their run had the finest picture I had ever seen.

The black levels and those saturated colors...

Then at night the picture quality increases almost 10 fold.

Can't get a Panasonic anymore...waiting for an 65-80" OLED with a decent price and low input lag :win:
