The East Bay
The Warriors played exclusively in Daly City for 4 years after they moved from Philadelphia. For the next five years, they played in DC, Oak, and even San Diego. That's when they were truly the Golden State Warriors. Since 1971, they've only played in Oakland, except a year in San Jose during the arena remodel.
The previous owner, Chris Cohan, refused to change the team name to the Oakland Warriors. He claimed that the team belonged to the entire Bay, but the obvious reason was that it was more marketable as Golden State.
Joe Lacob has said the same thing, but he'll leave it up to the fans. Which really means that they'll go back to being SF. People love wearing the City's name, it's like validation of something.
It's just business, but does bother me that 50 years of Oakland history will never be acknowledged.
Not once will the name Oakland have appeared on anything Warriors related. The ball boys wear hats that have an SF logo.
How quickly they've forgotten the support they had in this city during their decades of ineptitude.

Moving to SF is the best move for the franchise, so I understand. I just won't be as invested, I've already started feeling that.
But if they change the name, then I'm done. San Francisco has tons of people dikkriding their teams, they dont need anymore.
I'll wait for that new Seattle franchise to return.

I'm okay if they want to move to SF, whatever helps the team become a more attractive destination for stud Free Agents and helps the team make more money so that we can win a ring, the Cuban way.

But they better not fukk with Golden State. You know how many rap lyrics/songs get ruined with SF Warriors? Saafir is rolling in his grave

"Who got some snaps on the petro?" hahahaha i watched this joint like 100x

:mjpls:

the city of oakland has nothing to do with the turnout oracle gets on a nightly basis :usure:

if oakland was a great sports town why isn't the coliseum packed for A's and Raiders games, when both have had much more success than the warriors :sas2:

not only that, more than half the damn stadium is full of asians, you think those asians live in oakland :sas2:

what kind of a "fan" switches teams cuz they plan to move the team 7 miles and maybe change the name :heh: :camby:

We need to make an updated list of how many stadiums in sports aren't in some swanky downtown area /hipster village.

i think they become this way after the stadium is built.
the area around att park was a real shyt hole before they renovated everything. the same thing would happen in oakland if oakland got their shyt together.

I was gonna say this I've been to a lot of games and i ride the bart from the city and i have to wait like 2-3 trains because there packed full of warrior fans going to the game if anything i would say its 50/50 at least. oakland will make the trip across the bay its the BAY'S basketball team IMO:yeshrug:

exactly. the warriors have never been the oakland warriors so ppl from oakland/ east bay shouldnt have a problem. it's not like the raiders are moving to SF and changing their name to San Francisco Raiders.
warriors are the one team everyone in the bay area can embrace cuz it really is the bay's team, not oakland, eastbay, southbay or sf. even with the name change it shouldnt matter.

:childplease: @ next seattle team

man. NO PLACE in the bay area is cheap now unless you live in some shyt hole like richmond. and i would assume even that is expensive now :snoop:
case and point:

Fremont:
One BedroomStarting at $1885

Union City:
StudioStarting at $1900

Mountain View:
One BedroomStarting at $2595

:pacspit: these little fukk ass suburbs, and look at the rent
it's not just SF... everything is fukkin rape out here regardless if you lease/rent/buy. there's literally no place in the bay area that i can think of that's "cheap" the way LA is "cheap" with how much apartment + location you get for LESS money.

:beli:

even tho richmond is a shythole filled with hoodboogers, i still love it. i can care less if the warriors move at this point. i'm not going to any games and most of their home games are on work days so it's not like i'm gonna hit a club or bar up when i have work the next morning.

on a side note, SF and the bay area in general has too many "transplants." too many cacs, wannabe cacs, hipsters and yuppies acting like an elitist because they work for a start up:snoop::pacspit:
