The franchise will be revived...

Lionsgate is moving ahead with another entry in the Saw franchise. Bloody Disgusting reports that while nothing is set in stone yet, sources close to the project tell them that the studio is "incredibly active" in developing a new fim in the franchise.

The franchise dominated Halloween with a once-per-year format through the '00s but saw its fortunes wane with the rise of the Paranormal Activity franchise; the last film, Saw 3D, was released in 2010 and made $136.1 million worldwide, which was an incredibly profitable margin but low compared to the previous entries and eclipsed by Paranormal Activity 2's $177.5 million.

The site claims that the stuido is "in no rush" and are working on finding the right take to move forward. The plan appears to be continuing the franchise and not rebooting it.
