it was weak tho, and most of his o.g. fanbase had already moved on. when that happens, youre on borrowed time. ive seen artists sell twice or three times as much as paper trail, and get hit hard within the next year or two.

I knew the next album was gonna be a bust if he didn't have any candy-land singles to carry the sales.

he was really done in 2007 bro. he was a heavily-pushed artist, so the masses didn't catch on until 1 or 2 albums later.
You’re revising history

His fans base moved on after he went back to jail and put out that terrible No Mercy album

He was never able to get hip hop’s attention back
It wasn't a "smash" lol

Gods Plan was a smash.

It was a legit hit but that had everything to do with it being peak Thug hype at the time

I didn't revise anything. you just didn't comprehend my post.

I stressed the term "O.G." fanbase for a reason.

his original fanbase had moved onto other rappers long before the time period youre talking.

im not talking about his mainstream and crossover bases. like I said, those dominoes fall an album or two later - which is the no mercy album.

T.I. been done since he got out of jail the first time if we’re being honest. The second time/No Mercy was just the final nail in the coffin (even though that album had like four songs that could’ve been huge hits)

He could’ve bounced back with Trouble Man but he fumbled. Leaving the Kendrick and BOB song off the album was a mistake. The song (the first one, not the iTunes version) sounded good enough without the “Somebody That I Used To Know” sample.
