:damn:

:lupe:

I don't agree with everything you say, but you make some very valid points.

In my opinion, it's not a race thing ... but I like the John Lennon vs. Nas thing. John Lennon was the voice of a generation, nobody disputes that. Nas? Never the voice of a generation (even though he maybe should be, honestly ... he's done everything necessary to be so).

I don't know. I wouldn't paint everything so black and white, no pun intended. It's a very complex issue :lupe:

But I do think you're stretching it in, without saying his name, involving Reagan and the inner-city 80/90s drug culture.
I just think a lot of what's going on now within Hip Hop
on the street/hood level is an extension of what all happened
in the 80's/90's. A lot of people may have moved on but there
is still rampant gang violence and the music reflects that.
Sure Chief Keef isn't Eazy E but he's definitely giving insight
into the state of mind of a young banger from Chicago.

I think we can't evaluate Hip Hop in it's
current state without looking at the past and I agree
it's more complex than what all I presented
in my original post but I think the overall idea is that
Hip Hop simply isn't valued as a musical artform for expression.

As for the Lennon and Nas.
The thing with Hip Hop is if you've got a trained ear you sort of take for granted the lyrical acrobatics that truly great rappers pull off (Jay-Z,Eminem,Nas, Pharoahe Monch,Tech N9ne etc.) to us it isn't that great when they deliver "average" tracks but if you've ever taken the time to listen to a run of the mill song from other genre's you'd see just how far ahead the truly talented Emcee's in Hip Hop are in comparison to everyone else as far was writing lyrics.

Which leads me to say that someone like Nas or Jay-Z or
even Eminem are on a whole other plateau as far as lyric writing is
concerned. I mean it's hard for me to be impressed by "Imagine" when
I've listened to Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt, MMLP, SWQW, Lifestylez ov da
poor and dangerous and many other albums/songs.

I think race definitely plays a part in how Hip Hop is perceived
even many black people judge Hip Hop based on race and how
they feel it might effect them in their lives ,there is a large
part of the black population that most likely does not have an
active interest in Hip Hop because of what they THINK Hip Hop is
and the same can be said for those WHO DO find a home in Hip Hop
depending on what they're exposed to initially.
@SHAQAVELLI
Don't take my post as outright agreeing with Scarface
because while I do think Race has some part in it, I think
the biggest issue most have is their ignorance to "Hip Hop".

Well something has to be obviously wrong considering 90% of the topics here are mostly involving nikkas from the 90s(Jay, Nas, Pac, Em, Biggie,X ) and not hardly nothing from these new acts yall claim are hot now. How come the latest French Montana joint aint getting any replies but yet any topic about Nas get multiple?
I stopped listening to this bullshyt. many have... read the complaints. and I still complain b/c..... thats what the fukk you are supposed to do when you have an opinion. you voice that...*

:pacspit:

:ld:
That's because most of the people on here seem to be idiots
to their own genre beyond a given year.

They can only name the trash artists like :
Kreayshawn
V-Nasty
Riff Raff
Lil B
Trinidad James
Gucci

Many dudes can't name a song by Blu,Fashawn, XV, Hopsin or Joey
Bad @$$ and others didn't pay any attention to Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Drake or B.o.B. before they blew up.

A lot of dudes on here know about Defjam, Rap-a-lot, No Limit, Cash Money or Rocafella
but they can't tell you about any underground labels or artists.

Many on here have expressed a disinterest in Hip Hop
And whatever time they do spend talking about artists they spend it trolling seeking daps/reps.
You can't have a discussion when most of the members don't want to
discuss anything.
Posters like @IronFist regular drop threads on artists only to have
them go 1 or 2 pages because it's not "trinidad james" or on the opposite end of the spectrum another Nas,Jay-z,Eminem or 2pac thread.

:whoa:

The consummate pro -- or anyone who isn't a hack, in the writing world -- will make money off talent.

Face just has a case of :flabbynsick: 'itis.

The rap game is as open as it has ever been right now.
All you need is a good song and an internet connection to get on.
His time has passed and he feels its the white mans fault...but there were more white people in more control back in his day

Executives dont care about what people listen to, they just want to supply folks w/ whatever will make them the most money. If positive rap could make them rich, thats all you would hear...but its not, people want to hear fukkery.

What are the biggest "black" websites? WSHH, Mediafakeout, etc...

If you actually think white people would pass up money, just to make black people listen to negativity you should off yourself.

Its like people complaining about Mcdonalds...if people really want healthy food Mcdonalds would only sell salads....but they give the people what they want, Big Macs.

This is all 100% truth. It has never been easier to get your music heard. If people are rejecting the type of music you want pushed to the forefront you can't blame music executives.

Most of these nikkas cant accept the fact that most of these manufactured cookie cutter rappers that they dikkride or stan on the regular can't generate a serious peak of interest so they have to spew their venom and showcase hatred on the older heads to compensate that inner feeling. They know its the truth and it hurts so they go ahead with the silly ass Larry Holmes similes or calling him old and irrelevant when Face's career transitioned close to 30 years and he's still remembered as a pioneer. Their favorite crop of the month would be lucky to make it past a year.

How many people you heard today are still talking about that Big Sean Detroit mixtape or talking about How Drake's Take Care really crossed on levels of the past albums that were known as certified classics (dikkriding and stanning aside, How many??) Dont worry I'll wait :comeon:

Even thought he's right, that nikka needs to look at the garbage his region is producing...

Same nikka that co-signed Soulja Boy and shyt...

Face is still top 5 tho...

Everybody puts out garbage... Execs make the decision to put on garbage
