I'm mostly just remembering my college experience. Some instructors didn't care if u showed up or not, while other would penalize you.

Even in high school, it was more memorization instead of application. That's why I never put much stock into someone actually being a good test taker as it doesn't necessarily always mean they know how to do the work.

It's exactly how a lot of people tend to fail in college from high school as their previous methods just won't work there.

That's why a lot of them completely bum out of college as they weren't prepared by high school for it.

They let kids turn in assignments late and give them multiple chances to pass.. School is way to easy to graduate from now days.. Pushing these kids right on through and off a cliff..

Schools actually think they're helping kids by pushing them through high school just so they can get their diploma, but it's actually counterproductive. They're literally helping to make people a liability out here that can easily be hustled and exploited because the lack of education.

There was a teacher that gave a student a zero a few year ago when nothing was completed, and she was fired for violating the schools "No under 50%" policy.

She didn't want to give her credit for zero work, and she was correct. bytch ass parents complained.

This is a good move. Your passing for the year should not be affected because you had 6 tardies for a quarter.

The school that I work at started doing this a while ago, it came mandated by the district.

The excuse is that if a kid starts out with less than a 50% even if they begin working hard to pull their grade up they still will not be able to.

I personally have mixed feelings on it, I can understand some people thinking it gives kids an easy way out; however, I also understand not wanting to fail a quarter of your class or more because they aren’t getting assignments and other materials in which is a very real reality.

It’s all fun and games until Junior can’t graduate and walk with his class because he doesn’t have enough Carnegie units because he went a whole month or longer without turning in an assignment.

Then when you try to reach out to his parents they’ve changed their phone number, but when they find out Junior is not going to be able to walk with his class they somehow find a way to contact the school then.

2-3 kids like that you can withstand but you can’t have a quarter of a class of 400-500 students failing for those reasons, so some places put a safeguard in place.
