Gangsta and Grooveline 2 grew on me, Man of the Year is iight

all told id prolly give it a 2.5

id really like to see him work with THC on a full project, i know alot of cats didnt like Collard Greens but Q would sound good over some of their dustier beats

Im actually disappointed in this album. HnC was really really good. This just really fails in comparison to that album and if you dont think so you really are a stan.

I think it's crazy that folks have to set all these expectations and explanations to listen to music.....

"You must not be familiar with his style"

"It's an aquired taste"

"You gotta listen to it in the car"

"You gotta listen to it with one speaker turned up and your headphones halfway off to get it"

I don't think anyone is hating, I just think people feel the album is below average. No need to come in here defending it. You have your opinion, others have theirs. Keep it moving. No need to argue opinions. In my opinion dude ain't never been a good or even decent rapper. He does bring a decent vibe to the music that's ok if the beats are good, but other than that this is pretty much what I expected from the guy.

Been listening to this all day now :youngsabo:

It's still too early for me to give a definitive word cuz I'm not the type of nikka to rate shxt after only a few hours, gotta say los awesome was a really weird song but except that and the horrible 2 chains feature.

This project goes iiiiiin :blessed:

Gangsta is on of the dopest intros in years, blind threats and then break the bank is a one two combo worthy of Tekken Tag status :whew:

So far I'll give this 8/10 :obama:

Really solid project from Q and I've never said that about a Q project this quick, I got setbacks when it dropped and at first I was only feeling druggy's wit hoes and that track with Jhene Aiko :ld:

Same thing with H&C it was a project that really grew on me.

After a few more spins and some kush this album is piff, Hoover, Gangsta, Blind Threats just to name a few are bangers. Los Awesome is going to have to grow on me not bad but not great either. The 2 Chainz track is fire even tho i personally feel he tried to ruin it. I really like this, Q stays in his lane and brings dope music. 4/5 cause i already know when the bonus tracks leak its going to be even better

I'm also leaning towards a 4/5 currently. Los Awesome and The Purge are both just ok for me, with The Purges main problem being the beat. Gotta give it a few more spins though.

The thing is, this nikka talks about absolutely nothing the whole album. The only story is on hoover street. On debut albums(I know its technically his 3rd album geek, but this his major label debut) I expect to hear about yourself and I don't get that. Lamar debuy was a story. Nas was a story. All I hear is drug use, gang references, and partying. Thats cool but dude is not that nice with his bars, flow, choruses, adlibs, etc. He's the definition of average. Thats probably why this is getting mixed reviews.

If the album was as good as they claim then less effort would be put in to defending it than enjoying it.

Look at the Drive In Theater thread compared to this one. 30 pages of actually people enjoying the music, quoting shyt and praising the album

Oxymoron thread is 35 pages of nikkas trying to rationalize opinions and begging for links.

Your right about the Purge, it's a shame about the beat. I actually think Q does a good job on that track and Tyler's hook is nice.

Kurupt had me :pachaha::why: :patrice::whoo: all in the same verse.

Then you CLEARLY haven't listened to the album thoroughly. The entire album is about living life's paradox. The hypocrisy that life gives you. He even said in one line he's "trying to live only to die". Everything is an oxymoron. This is a cinematic scope inside his own personal experiences with oxy-dealing and survival. But if according to you, you expect another GKMC album. Kendrick's album is Kendrick's album, he wanted a non-linear style film of his life. Q's about a theme, even the musical atmosphere is trippy as if drug-induced. The main reason for the mixed reviews is because people expected a STANDARD kind of album, which tailor-made singles and no theme at all. As I said earlier, people are conditioned to the lame trap beats, R&B assisted rap singles, and soft rappers talking about clubbing all the time and making money that they don't have in reality. This is with intention NOT that kind of album.
