People are obviously missing Pippen's overall comment. Pippen was never viewed as a viable DPOY candidate because the media was fixated on Jordan and him being the anchor of their defense and not Pippen. We see that in the league today where a lot of dudes are taken serious as DPOY candidates as people view other members of their team as the key to their defense. If you don't believe it, look over there at Boston and Robert Williams who doesn't get the credit for what he means to Boston's defense.

To be honest Dikembe and Wallace sucked a lot of air out of the room and rightfully so.

But Bowen and Artest getting more credit than Duncan on the defensive end is wild.
