:francis:Majority of leftist seem on board with killing the filibuster and letting whoever holds power ram their agenda through... if it means expanding fossil fuel output and defunding the EPA when rethugs have power, so be it... as long as there’s Medicare for all, who cares.

:mjlol: What are you babbling about?? You will say anything to get your dumb opinion across

:whoa: I don’t see that happening in any way without kicking up too much dust. Pun intended.

I agree. But its necessary. The US could probably turn off its electrical grid entirely and go back to riding horses and india and china would still be enough to fukk everything up

Cross off India, that place will become inhabitable; already having severe heat waves.

the ether
World has to conquer India China and russia or simply eat the higher costs of eco friendly manufacturing and cut them out of the market entirely
If the rest of the world wanted to change, and changed, India/China would be forced to go along with it. India is too poor and China is too greedy to go it alone. All we'd have to do is collectively stop trading with any Chinese/indian industry that failed to adopt the necessary standards and they would run to comply.

The issue is that WE'RE too greedy. We don't want to do what's necessary, so we blame others. Even America alone, if they became a frontline leader on this shyt, would eventually drag the rest of the world along.

It's really an indictment on the human species that we cannot come together collectively to solve and/or mitigate such an existential threat. Sometimes I think cimate change is too slow moving and complex for the average human brain to understand. Most people wont understand how serious the issue is until it effects their lives personally (via severe weather events, war, droughts, food/water insecurity etc) and even then I doubt they'll have enough smarts to tie it to the overarching issue of climate change.

We'll either

1. keep voting in politicians who don't fully grasp the severity of the issue and instead implement hollow & half baked measures to combat it (Biden)

or

2. Vote for fascistic politicians who either outright deny it exists or use it to scapegoat more vulnerable communities (Trump and MAGA)

Either path invetibly leads us down the road of collapse

By the time America is ready to get serious on climate change it will be far far too late

Agreed

I posited we could cut them out of the market but that wont happen because of greed

Its outlandish but we can try and conquer them but that wont happen partially because of greed (moreso that it would be beyond herculean to come close to winning)

If the environment is as important as it is being suggested that it is (hard to argue) then something drastic to the point of sounding insane has to happen with enormous short term losses in order to preserve humanity

Tldr: nothing will happen or change
