I don’t know the specifics of who can catch it, I’ve just read that the gay community at higher risk. But from the article:
“According to the public health agency, the infant "was likely exposed to monkeypox through an infected family member. This child did not get the infection from school, childcare or other public setting."
I would bet money that family member wasn’t from the Harlem side of the family
The kid probably got it from a gay family member touching him/her.

I said before it being completely framed as a gay disease is really bad. obviously the gays need to be most aware and there is a reason why they are the only ones qualifying for the vax but...
it spreads through human contact not just bussy activities
people who are more exposed to human contact are going to get it. so just like covid, people who are more in front facing customer service/retail work aka non-white people are going to be catching it at a higher rate too. not at an alarming rate most likely, but the fact that it's getting stigmatized as a gay disease is probably gonna stop straight people from getting it treated properly out of not wanting to look
and if any kid catches it people gonna claim the parent is molesting them and shyt. it's all gonna be a fukking mess.

In any case, no one said that only gays get it, we just said what research said, which is that in men who get it the majority are gay/bi in the USA. And in the USA the group with the highest cases of monkey pox is gay and bisexual men, by far. The percentage of women and children with it is extremely minimal. You know this.
