why nobody question exactly what providers will be showing the sec network?

The SEC has secured distribution deals with AT&T U-Verse and Dish Network, but DirecTV and regional cable providers across the conference's footprint have yet to sign deals.

it not having all those regional cable folks would hurt greatly i think

CBS has first dibs on any SEC game, followed by ESPN. CBS also has rights to the SEC championship game. After CBS and ESPN grab the games they want which table scraps are the the SEC Network going to air that can pull viewers away from the NFL? Kentucky vs. Mississippi State? Auburn vs. Random FCS school?

Sec network is run by ESPN. If they wanted to they can put their game on there. You forget what area of the country you live. A MST/AL or a UF/Auburn game would outdraw a SF/Arizona game in the south.

Why would ESPN put an UF/AU game on a Sunday night to attempt to win the south when they could air that game on Saturday and win the whole country? Also remember that Sunday night game is now the premiere NFL game of the week. It could be going against SF SEA or DEN GB, etc.... You damn sure arent going to try and air that college game in the 1pm time slot are you?

To sell the network. Same reason NFL started Thursday night football to get people to start carrying the channel. It's not gonna hurt ESPN not having that game on the main networks but it only helps by having a major game on the SEC network. Should they try a Sunday game every week no but once or twice for the season I don't see the harm cause it sparks interest in the channel.

The NFL was airing crappy games on Thursday night. Remember when the Patriots were going for that undefeated season and one of the games was on NFL Network and not regular tv? The NFL caved into pressure to put that game on regular TV. Also the NFL games on those Thursday nights were going against mediocre college games, it was pretty much an easy win for them. Those Sunday night college games would be going head to head with the best NFL games.

ESPN is not going to put a premiere game on that channel right out the gate and they surely wont put one on Sunday night versus the most popular programming going. Could you imagine what would happen if due to the NCAA airing games on Sunday the NFL got the law changed that forbids them from airing Saturday games? The NCAA doesnt want that!

Honestly can't say I remember back to 07.
I don't think them coming out the gate with a premier game would be smart either but putting one on there should happen because it's in best interest of the network. Gotta have premier games on it to entice people to get it. If they want to do Sunday it works cause the south fukks with CFB more than the NFL.
Now if the NFL wanna try to do Saturday it'd be petty but they'd kill CFB :manny:
