Several studies have attempted to make the case that feds are either over or underpaid, but the jury’s still out on which of those studies is the most reliable, accurate picture of federal vs. private sector pay.

If you work in IT, however, there are a few jobs that are paying six figure salaries, according to Dice.com’s 2012 Salary Survey. The key to six-figures, Dice found, is to move up in management. IT managers ($113,162), information architects ($112,670), systems architects ($111,985), data architects ($108,961) and IT project managers ($104,398) all commanded six-figure salaries this year.

If none of those jobs apply to you, there are also some key IT skills that can bring in six-figures: advanced business application programming ($109,157); service oriented architecture ($108,210); extraction, transformation and loading ($106,521); Weblogic ($103,702); Java database connectivity ($102,630); unified modeling language ($102,579); JBoss ($102,184); and Websphere ($100,348), Dice found.

You can pull a 100k gig with a TS/SCI clearance and no certs. You'll probably be required to get one soon tho.
Imagine having a TS with certs *baow*

yeah my homeboy got out the Army before me and works at a noc in DC
he started out at 106k and 3 months later got a raise- he's at 121k now

How can i obtain this as a civilian?

Im a civilian processing for one right now in IT its guaranteed 110+ starting out. With a TS/SCI you call the shots salary wise if one company wont pay you another one will since the pool of cleared folks is slim and there is lots of work to do

Best to start with a ccna and then get a ccnp. CCNA will get your familiar with advanced networking and then commands associated with cisco hardware. CCNP will delve futher into this. Its like getting a masters degree in networking. It takes as long as it takes for you to understand the material. CCNP and CCIE can sometimes ruin families so hopefully you're single. These arent certs you can cheat your way to obtain because ultimately you will be put to task of understanding what you're learning and can easily be exposed, and fired.
