I LOVED Sega CD. This was my game.

The green tint is ugly af, but 9 year old me thought this game had such a cool vibe.

Also, Sonic CD was one of my favorite Sonic games.

:blessed:

That’s what pretty much everybody around my way had. Only remember a couple people with SNES
I had a SNES growing up, so I only got to play Sega at other peoples’ houses.
Yoshi’s Island, Super Mario RPG, Final Fantasy VI, Super Metroid, Turtles in Time, Zelda, and all the Mega Man games :blessed:

My whole world changed when I met a kid in high school who put me on to emulators. Playing Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, and ActRaiser for the first time :ohlawd:

Sega gave Nintendo a run for their money those first few years, but the tide really started turning when Donkey Kong Country and Star Fox dropped. The failure of the 32x also played a part.

To be fair though Nintendo took a massive L with the Virtual Boy :trash:

I was Genesis Gang all damn day.

The hours me and my brother put in on that system playing NHL94, Madden, Sonic games, etc :banderas:

I always contend that Sega had the best sports games. @Art Barr disagreed and I took a debate L to him but I still stand on it :damn:

Yeah, Sega had a faster processor, so sports games on Sega were generally better IMO.

When it comes to side scrolling platformers you can’t go wrong with either one because Mario and Sonic were both dope.

Space shooters generally played better on Sega because of the faster processor.
All that slowdown in Gradius 3 for SNES <<<

RPG’s on SNES were better than Sega IMO. Phantasy Star 4 is great but that’s not enough to compete with Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Secret of Mana, Mario RPG, Lufia 2, etc.

Sega had the edge with shootemups. I like Contra 3, but Gunstar Heroes is one of the best games of ALL TIME. (Unless we count Mega Man X and X2, in which case I’ll call a tie)

For fighting games, I’m going with the SNES.
Street Fighter was cool on both systems (if you bought the special controllers for Sega). The first Mortal Kombat on SNES was hot garbage but they came correct with 2 and 3. Plus you had Killer Instinct and the better version of TMNT Tournament fighters on SNES.

For beatemups it’s hard to say. Streets of Rage>>>Final Fight, but Hyperstone Heist wasn’t seeing Turtles in Time IMO.

I loved playing all the Sonics...Mortal Kombat and especially Fatal Fury being easier to play on Genesis than SNES...Andy Bogard was unusable on SNES...

Lord of the Sword and Last Battle were the only games on Genesis I never could beat ... oh that and Revenge of Shinobi (Game Genie changes that years later-->Neo Zed was hard to beat with all that hair)

Had the genesis in 91 streets of rage series was goated. To be fair Nes still had great Games in 92 and I still played it a lot having the genesis, But once the Snes came around
Genesis got chucked to the bushes. :birdman:
Snes just had too many classics. And exclusives only superior games was MK1 cause of blood , also Genesis held the SF2 crown for a few months with the Champion Edition But Nintendo Crushed the buildings Securing SF2 Turbo and to be fair the SNK ports looked better on the Genesis.

But other than that SNES games where superior. And Sega dropped the ball with the infighting within the company divisions and all those attachments. But with all those factors they still managed to hang around. And keeping the pressure on the SNES in the American and European Markets with them adding all those attachments and advancements like the Sega CD Nintendo went and recruited Sony to build the Super Nintendo CD attachment but backed out at the last minute. Sony Got Mad and Even by Bringing the Playstation into the Fold.

That's why we need competition in the Market because we are the ones that benefit at the end of the day. Look at how the Steamdeck has birthed all these new powerful Handhelds.
