I’m a card carrying member of #snesgang, but the Genesis still had a dope run.
It’s a real shame that Sega’s corporate mismanagement messed them up so badly during the Saturn era. The Dreamcast didn’t deserve to go out as early as it did.

“Bernie Stolar dropped the ball with the RAM cartridge, X-men vs Street Fighter could have expanded the market” :wow:

I was Genesis Gang all damn day.

The hours me and my brother put in on that system playing NHL94, Madden, Sonic games, etc :banderas:

I always contend that Sega had the best sports games. @Art Barr disagreed and I took a debate L to him but I still stand on it :damn:
Everyone said this in real-time back in the day & it's true

And Sega was winning the console war in the mid 90's till the peripherals like the Sega CD/32X/Nomad all failed & then the Saturn went into production. All they had to do was keep making great Genesis games till the 3d era was on us. Gunstar Heroes, Vector Man, & Comix Zone could compete with any Snes title back then. But Sega wouldn't have been Sega if they weren't trying to stay ahead of everyone & push technology forward

The genesis dropped two years before the SNES, it's impressive it was able to keep up with the SNES at all considering it was built with technology that was two years older.

Nintendo got around some of the hardware limitations with on cartridge processors (it's the only reason games like Star Fox were possible).

Most of the big game studios were bullied into exclusive contracts with Nintendo due to the success of the NES. It's part of the reason that the same version of video games rarely was released on both consoles by big studios (think TMNT and Contra).

Sega did some stupid shxt with all the extra hardware peripherals (CD, 32x) on the genesis, the America and Japanese parts of the company were beefing and instead of focusing on polygon generation for the next console and moving the Arcade (which they were dominating at the time) experience into homes, but it's a miracle and a testament to the Genesis that it was able to give the SNES a fight at all considering how many things the SNES had going for itself.

TLDR: Nintendo did everything to set up the Genesis to crash and burn TurboGrafx style but the genesis did very well anyway.

Big facts
