Jay is the type of dude who always thinks hes got everything figured out, usually its helped him but now he thinks he is still on a higher level than everyone else. He doesnt realize how stale his content is, he thinks hes droppin parables and some high class hip hop shyt like kanye, but unlike kanye he kinda sounds like a lame doin it, like jay u arent a fukin aficionado, if you fancy yourself one no one cares.

TBH these days everyone pirates shyt, so its not even like if we download something we like it, we just all listen to it because its so easy, out of curiousity. When a legend like jay drops an album, and hes recently made good music, ur always gonna have to check it out

sounds like bullshyt. there's alot of free music and movies out there by 'legends' in their respective fields that I ignore because I don't like them. This feeling the 'need' to listen shyt that you dudes are trying to promote is so fukking transparent. nikka just say you like the music and keep it moving. Sound like chicks that always say "mann I love this double cheese burger..but ya know its bad for me..I should stop eating it." while devouring that shyt between every word....:what:

What happened to nikkas having dignity and pride and just liking what they like and owning up to it?...Just because other rich nikkas are mad that they arent as rich as jay doesnt mean you have to hate too dummies. And also when the fukk has Hip Hop NOT been about bragging? Even conscious nikkas like Mos and Kweli are braggadocious as fukk on records.

I guess i cant speak for everyone else but it rly depends on what you mean by a fan. I wouldnt currently call myself a jayz fan, but hes someone i respect enough to check out usually, especially when it has the hype of MCHG, i mean timbo fukin said it was like the best hip hop album or somethin, if you dont check somethin out after that then u probably are a hater.

And theres no harm in checkin out a project, i check out most projects from major artists even if i dont like them, of course by check out i mean clickin on half the songs an skipping to halfway through it to see if its anythin special

Speak for yourself. Everyone isn't disappointed with the album. The majority actually likes the album.
You got me there, i dont rly care about the reception it got i just saw the comments in the discussion thread, an that video where the dude said every track is light

If you havent noticed my typing style is pretty lazy, so ill say little incorrect statements here an there, but they dont rly detract from the main point so :yeshrug:

I haven't listened to hov in years. If it wasn't for the booth, I wouldn't even know he had an album out.

C'mon B, you can't be serious. Every news outlet from AHH to CNN has covered this album, every social network, every TV channel on commercials. You'd have to be living under a rock to not know it was coming.

Cause he makes good music.
I'm not an airhead tryna take history lessons and shyt from rappers.

I listne to Jay and I'm not extremely wealthy today, I'm not old as fukk and I wasn't a coke slinger 15 year ago etc I listen to Nas even though I've been educated about anything he said on Untitled since I was 10 years old and I don't give two fukks about Queens and I've not got a daughter, Wu-tang and I'm not an international 5% arms dealing Cambodian monk. And the list goes on.

In fact, there are few rappers I can relate to directly. Cole perhaps, Drake when he talks about broads, vintage Kanye and probably other soft rappers.

I can relate to the feeling on certain songs, the lyrics on certain songs, other songs are like movies, some science fiction, some action, some thrillers, some documentaries and I fukk with all those "genres".

Like at what point did it go from us being kids or younger and just enjoying rap, to now sitting here listening to Billionaire Hov telling us what he’s got, what we don't have, etc. I’m not hatin on his success, but where’s the entertainment in that? And on top of that, we're paying (him) for it :heh:

Now I know everyone on the Coli is making six-figs, but even at that, you still can’t relate to 99% of what he’s talking about.

But look at other genres of music and it’s a stark separation of how it’s presented to the listener. No other music is the presenter telling you all of what he has(unless it's love or something like that) and what you dont have.

Hes not the only one who “kicks the braggin raps”, as Nas would say….but even the younger dudes, like Drake, Cole, Wale, etc have other sh*t to rap about other than how much money they have.

So is it just that Jay is the last truly successful rapper left from an era many of us grew up in? The Golden era of rap, if you will….and so we listen to him because he’s still here?

Am I reachin?

This is a classic rock song where the singer is bragging and most people like it.

This seems to be a white mans problem more than a black mans problem. They don't like a black man stuntin that hard. The same people applauding him for poisoning his communities and buying Cristal and Lexuses are shytting on him for now doing philanthropy and having his own champagne etc.
Dude has always been referencing to his life, his real life unlike your favorite rappers. That's what cats on the streets appreciate, when people talk that real shyt.

He's too arrogant to give a fukk about your or any cacs feelings, if you don't like his life, don't listen to his music. He even dropped it without singles for your convenience. People call him politically correct, but dude is too politically incorrect for a lot of people to handle. I've even seen newspapers giving BP3 higher ratings than MCHG, cause BP3 was safe pop music where he filtered his life.

What is the solution to this? Should he stop reference to his life just cause it's too nice now?
Content wise, my only problem is that it lacks a bit on the "concept-tip" and a bit too many name drops.

yeah your right, the Samsung thing was big news but I don't listen to radio or BET anymore. I'm so far removed from the mainstream. Most of Jay's recent albums get like one or two spins from me and that's it.

Nowadays peeps listen to Jay because all his albums are 'events'. He has the gravitas and the political reach to make it so. But to keep it 3 Hunna this nikka been quite corny for some time now.

You would have to be a hater not to recognize the success that hes attained, but that cant alleviate the struggle i witness on these latest features, including the free NSA phone tap album.

It's already been said best...

People hate his bragging cause they know it's the truth. They don't get nearly as offended by the 1000s of other rappers that have rhymed about shyt they "can't relate" to having. And half of 'em didn't even mind Jay's bragging until they got older and critical.

Same nikkas now talkin' bout "WHY HE RAPPIN BOUT PAINTINGS, I CAN'T RELATE!!! :mindblown:" are the same ones who were takin' a bus to school while listenin' to him shyt on a nikka for not knowin' the diff between a 4.0 and a 4.6. nikkas act like this dude used to rhyme about ridin' the train and then he got successful and started downtalkin' people- this has been Jay's m.o. since '96. Anybody hurt in 2013 problably is just faking outrage. I think they really like the shyt cause they keep listening to it... they just wanna find shyt to criticize.
