I just think dude raps way better.

All day.
I like what he represents but nah.
He's a natural.

I saw dude rap off the head at 16 years old over a bunch of Nick Wiz beats and kill sh*t. Speaking about the clothes people had on and what food was on the table. For over 15 mins. Last year, we all got up and he did it again outside, in like 20 degree weather, lol. It's just next level sh*t. On the other side, I watched Cole try to practice verses he had on paper and struggle to record them right, in the studio.

Joey is naturally nice. Cole ain't. Cole raps like he had to learn how to rap. The dude ain't got no soul. He's dry AF. So I'm going with my guy from Brooklyn. That sh*t comes naturally to Joey.
Just about everyone had to "learn how to rap".

Music is about soul.

Cole is dry. Which is why you see so many people saying he's boring. It's not because of what he's talking about. You can just hear that he wasn't brought up around soulful sh*t and that thing. You can't teach natural rhythm and soul. He just doesn't have that.

Joey's had all of that since he was a kid. There's just certain skills that come easily to you when you're a natural. It's like somebody else said on here before, Cole is the guy that would've learned how to breakdance from the Hip Hop B-Boy Instructional videos. There's no seasoning in the chicken with dude. He's that kind of rapper.

You said out rap, which isn't about soul. Plenty of great rappers can't make good music.

We're gonna have to agree to disagree because I don't think Cole is dry or soulless, going down this path slides down the rabbit hole of the black experience being a monolith/code book.

Rapping is all about soul. Flowing is rhythm and soul.

This is music. Music is supposed to touch our soul. You can be technically whatever. That can be taught. But that doesn't make you soulful where you'e showing that you can do this naturally. So when people say that Cole is boring, which they have been forever, that's what they're talking about. Lack of soul in the music. You can't teach that. You either have it or you don’t.

That part is always going to be lacking with him. He just ain't got that. For MC's, my thing has always lyrics, voice, flow and soul. That's what I'm looking for. Because that's what brings the people in and gets that connection going. Look at someone like Scarface. That's soul and lyrics all day. There's really levels to being able to have all of that. And that's the thing Cole's been missing since day one.

Just saying.

With all these rappers we talk about all day long. On here, and on social media or whatever. Why are so many people calling dude boring? It's the exact same critique. Everywhere. Something's clearly missing, if that many people say the same sh*t about dude, for years.

In small part, yes. People are also followers in the sense that they are programmed in what sounds/styles to appreciate, not necessarily tit for tat copying opinions.

I don’t know about that.

Since 2009, way before social media, I've seen all kinds of people saying the same thing about dude. On here, the barbershop, Twitter, IG, around the way, etc. I think people really just don’t connect with dude. He has his fans, but I can't remember the last time I saw this many people calling a rapper "boring".

You see people calling MC's wack and trash, all day. But "boring" isn't exactly an everyday critique when it comes to MC's. But Cole has kept that label since the very beginning. Dude is just boring, lol.
