Serious question: Why are atheist's such a$$holes?

Because they find it utterly ridiculous that people worship some invisible 'guy' in the sky

They believe that people are stupid and brainwashed into thinking that you'll live hell on earth only to enter heaven when you die (if you've been good)

Their research has led them to believe that the 'invisible man' doesn't exist and if he does why does he allow

I) World hunger (when countries like the US literally throw away their excess food)
II) People around the world to not have clean water
III) Diseases
IV) The rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer
V) Racism and modern day slavery (i.e. people working in sweatshops for pennies)
VI) Churches are a big business. Most of the people are broke and preacher lives like a king. Surrounding community looks like shyt.
and so forth..

Added one more. But here is the thing. There are many Atheists like myself and others that don't go out of our way to try to convince you there is no man in the sky. But religious people do. The only time I'm a dikk is when one of those bible thumpers start talking about church or God. I tell them I'm not religious and they get butt hurt. I think religious people are the real dikks. They can't except it and move on.


I always hit them with the that I do what I want and sleep well not thinking about no Santa Claus for adults type shyt.

Thought about this myself and the only conclusion I've found is they're basically a$$holes. They search for information that confirms their own beliefs and then beat other people in the head about their beliefs because it doesn't confirm to their own belief system. They have basically put in a bunch of work to become the exact thing they started out hating and finding a way to be the exact opposite of. Only to become the same thing with a different message.

There's a certain brand of Fundamentalist Christian, Fundamentalist Hindu, Fundamentalist Athiest, etc. that the description explains equally well.


They grew up in a certain environment and with certain life experiences that convinced them they are absolutely right....they believe that it must be something innately superior in themselves which has led them to the truth...they believe that the particulars of their belief are the answer to every single problem in the world and that anyone who disagrees with them are "why everything is going wrong in this country"....they have completely stopped listening to anyone else's experience or arguments and prefer to just beat you over the head until you submit...or they mock you as inferior.

If you switched around their life situations, they would switch from Hinduism to Atheism to Christianity to whatever...but still be the same fundamental a$$holes.

One major thing that annoys me about Atheists is the assumptions they automatically make. (Theists do this as well). Just because you belive in God doesn't mean you view him/her/it from an Abrahamic viewpoint

This doesn't go for "all" atheists or "all" Christians. I'm a very committed Christian myself, and I have numerous atheist friends who are amazing people. But there's a certain brand of Fundamentalist personality that acts in the exact manner that's being described, and they act in that manner no matter which religion or philosophy they've chosen to attach it to. The Fundamentalist Atheists, for reasons explained by others, are sometimes the most internet-vocal but they're certainly not unique.
