I go to FAU right now for a 2nd bachelors in accounting. I got some school grants and paid the difference out of pocket but I just applied for $20k so I can focus on these last 2 semesters.
How far is are you? What's the tuition looking like? I just reregistered and sent my transcripts back to the cc. Filed my FAFSA as well. I really need to pass this CLEP. Can't Waste a year just for math.I go to FAU right now for a 2nd bachelors in accounting. No one said it's going to be easy and I've been subbed to r/engineeringstudents for a while so I'm aware of this uphill battle.Engineering is not like other degrees. Its incomparable to everything except medschool in difficulty.
He will have to stop literally everything in his life if @TheKongoEmpire ever hopes to pass differential equations/partial diiferentialCalc. We had young college students having mental breakdowns over these engineering courses despite having no job and still having to spend hours on a single math problem in a set of 30 of them. Thats not even counting the physics or major specific coursework.
Its pure academic hazing with unnecessary difficulty and very little of it will actual be used in his career; but its mandatory in every engineering degree. You cant just memorize a book to pass these tests.
Wish you luck out there, @TheKongoEmpire. it will be worth it on the back end when you working for Seimens or GE![]()
How could I?
This. You really have to study Math
Calc 1 isn't all you gotta worry about
For a Mechanical engineer degree. The Math classes you would have to take would be
1. Calc 1
2. Calc 2
3. Calc 3
4. Differential Equations
5. Linear Algebra
6. Physics for Engineers 1
7. Physics for Engineers 2
8. Physics for Engineers 3
9. Thermodynamics
10. Strength of Materials
11. Other Mech Ebmng major classes

The last 2 semesters they offered me a grant of $1200 and I paid the difference so like $2400/semester in-state. That’s just tuition. Books and stuff vary. Brother, all of that is done. I have 27/60 so the other 33 credits all require a Calc 1 prereq. I'm studying for the CLEP nowCan you take general Ed prereqs online?
This.
I’m a Mech Engineer grad. Breh really needs to go through with that calc 1 course, and makes sure he understands the material, as most, if not all of your engineering courses build off that. I would even suggest him going back one, and taking pre-cal.

This, I'm planning on going to community college late next year/early 2024 and this organization gives out CLEP vouchers for 32 courses after you finish a moduleGo to the guard
Oh and check out CLEP and DSST tests. I tested out of damn near half of my degree. If you have basic knowledge on a lot of subjects you can pass them. It's almost not even fair. The more difficult ones I have a site I used to study and it's mostly people brain dumping the questions. I'll PM you if interested. The tests are $100 and some come with free retests if you fail. Honestly, if you don't do this you're an idiot. I wish I would have known about them sooner. It will save you thousands of dollars.
Most schools take them and the community college certainly does.
