Seriously, if you don't get married, what are you planning to do?

I tell them that all the time, alimony is only awarded in 10-15% of divorces and it's only given when there's a big income gap. I even provided multiple sources saying the exact same thing but they still say I'm wrong. One dude even got mad at me and went on a rant about it.

i say it too in every one of these threads....

ive been thru a divorce...and no my ex-wife didnt get alimony....we split the debt and 401ks...i pay cs...thats it

My dad divorced my mom...she git zilch. She didnt even request for child support...the government forced him to pay $250 for two children in the last two years and he can't even pay that. Most women arent banking on alimony and child support.

Same, my dad has been divorced twice and hasn't had to pay anything and he makes a lot of money. Him and my mom worked out a "child support" agreement on their own. My step dad didn't have to pay his ex wife anything either.

Naw because the will only takes effect when there is death . I'm talking about if a man walks out on his family type situations. The wife and children could be entitled to financial support ... Depending on the circumstances.

If you make 20 a hour and your wife makes 15 she can get alimony.

If you have kids child support, and then there are also childcare expenses that are not included in child support.

Not to mention it can take even years for it to get court and you can be hit with retroactively.

You do know if she got a lawyer and went though with a legal proceedings your twice divorced dad wouldn't be skating away

breh...im divorced...are you really gonna try and tell me about my life? seriously? im speaking from personal experience....

as far as CS...all my childcare expenses were calculated into it....i tell dudes to stay on top of shyt...and never miss a courtdate...if you not there anything can happen

quit scaring these dudes into thinking that every situation warrants alimony...it doesnt.

ive spent plenty of time in family court too breh...the average man isnt getting hit with alimony like that...

At this early stage of my life I don't see the appeal to marriage. But if that changes for some reason it's like what a previous poster said, I want to get my money right first.


@Emperor_ReinScarf is right in saying finances are the leading cause in divorce. So if I get married when I have a shyt job, no degree, no insurance, no home, then my marriage/family is doomed before it starts. I'm not trying to do what my mom did and struggle. I never got to go on family trips growing up. I use to think anyone who lived in a house with stairs was rich


If I do decide to marry and have children I want my family to live comfortably.

everyone my age who is married has become so and pathetic that i dont even wana think about it

boring, shyt ass lives, day in/day out same routine. my friend's been with his gf since they were teenagers, like 10 years. the last year all they do is work, go home, and the only time they leave their city is to take their daughters to disneyland
