Heels stop doing heel tactics because punk ass parents bytch too much about it. Remember when heel R-Truth was smoking a cigarette.... and all the negative backlash WWE got because of it. Remember when heel Alberto Del Rio ripped up a kids sign... and the kids mother was crying and bytching about that? Remember when heel Nexus CM Punk at a house show was shyt talking a fan and called him a fakkit... and all of the negative backlash the WWE got from that. Heels can't be heels these days because some of the fans just won't let them be.

There's truth to this. Pun semi intended.

We live in a "you're not allowed to offend anyone" society, anyone who says or does anything edgy right now ends up with an apologetic tweet or full retraction . WWE has too many masters to please as far as sponsors, stock holders etc. they wanna send people home with smiles thus heels being neutered.

I have noticed this lately. That's part of the reason why I stopped watching wrestling for awhile. I always cheered for the heels and hated the faces as a kid, but now I don't even see the difference besides the fact that one is loved by the fans and one isn't.

Society today:snoop:

Back in my day(:flabbynsick: )Jake was slapping the fire out of Miss Elizabeth. The crowd at the rumble had a very audible "fakkit" chant at the Genius. Pillman pulled a gun on Austin. Rock and the Nation had Chyna on her knees, etc

and yea it's probably a lot harder for guys to get heat these days, no question. but it can still be done. it can always be done. it just takes good writing and good performing.

It came out the other day that they aren't allowed to anymore.

Word from Stone Cold from Cesaro.

Which is why the concept of a true heel is dead. Del Rio should have been great as a heel but he couldn't connect with the audience well enough for them to even react.

Well certain people are always getting shytted on and are just told to get over it. But that's a whole different topic.

I'll say it's a combo of:

-Society becoming pc
-Becoming a publicly traded company
-Linda's "Charlie Brown-esque" runs for the senate that has caused what we see today

Put all three together and there is no way Vince will take the chances he took in years past, especially considering the lack of competition

You're right about guys still being able to get over. I believe they have the wrestlers, I have no faith in their writers though.

what needs to happen for this company to revert back to the days of actually giving a fukk.

be as imaginative as you like.

For them to give a fukk I think there needs to be viable competition on a major network. With no other major player in town they have no incentive to take risks. There is no fear of a John Cena or a Randy Orton showing up in prime time on a rivals show ala Luger/Hall/Nash on Nitro. It's why I hope TNA can stick around and hopefully build. It's why I hope GFW is a success. NJPW on AXS TV with an American broadcast team/weekly show is something else I hope is successful. Hopefully it's successful enough that it can move to another station that is seen in more households. Basically an organization needs to cause the brain trust in Stamford to say "We can no longer rest on our laurels, this other company is starting to gain on us, we have to start taking chances".

that's definitely one way.

but playing it safe isn't the only thing holding them back right now, wouldn't you agree? i mean even if they turned john cena heel tomorrow you would still have more faith in them fukking it up right?

either:

a) there's just a MASSIVE lack of effort being put into the overall quality of the product.
b) upper management really is that clueless
c) the managerial and creative structure of the company has been compromised.

my question is even if they DID have to step it up, do you really trust the current people in charge to deliver?
