My mom's was seeing a guy from NC. Nice dude , traveled a lot, and even was a bodybuilder during his military days But he was TOO friendly with white folks and people my mom would view the other way. Always giving them excuses and shyt for treating him like shyt . Needless to say, he associated him self with people I saw as scum . Even family members.

When he died after a freak accident a few years ago His family was more looking for the payday and his funeral was the bleakest I ever attended, despite it being held in a big church. I knew him for three years and half of the shyt I knew about him , was from his funeral, even the bodybuilding background.


He did have some nice neighbors despite living in an otherwise suburb

In OKC, you really have to move away. Imagine being black in okc looking for a job after you graduate from college. Very difficult when the majority of the people are hiring are white & more comfortable hiring someone that looks like them. Now plenty of people move, get the work experience & come back, but getting the opportunity right after college can be difficult.

As for as what the OP is talking about, that shyt is not happening in OKC. You aren't gonna just talk to any black man any kind of way.

I like ATL, but it's way too crowded.... the social and economic infastructure for blacks is strong too... I've heard about Charlotte coming up.... I'm torn as to where I wanna go. I have fam everywhere, but there.... Texas seems a logical jump being from OK, but I'm intrigued with Charlotte

Once you get past the downtown in charlotte, it's all glorified sprawl and/or actual sprawl. But it's NC's metropolis ... if that means anything.

Them Durmites aren't passive. And FayetteNam and 336 aren't passive either. More rural towns, yeah, maybe. But not the urban areas of NC.

True story. Link that when you get a chance. I'd argue that Durham (even Raleigh) has more black culture than Charlotte. It's older blacks carrying that mantle in Durham (and Raleigh), however, but Durham has rich black history.

Charlotte is still a relatively new city.

Aside from banking, energy, and the pro teams, and NASCAR it really doesn't have much of a cultural identity. You do have a number of younger successful blacks there because they inmigrated there from across NC ... and SC. too. And they are more of the corporate type. And a whole lot of blacks doesn't necessarily mean culture. CIAA tourney alone can't provide culture.

Charlotte is wide open and the money is easy here but you have to have patience with the locals, its hard for a lot of them to see the vision. If you move here then you need to have your plan mapped out from A-Z and know what you gonna do from the minute you hit the ground because it aint a whole lot of real networking going on here. Charlotte may only have like 2 or 3 Black networking events a month, and most of it is just some bullshyt. Most folks here is on the 9-5 tip, it aint a lot of hustlers here so you pretty much end up spinning your wheels at events like that. Where Im from its the exact opposite, even 9-5 folks got a side hustle and every where you go somebody trying to shove they business card in your face

Never happened. There was/is a practice with many clubs on Glenwood, but niccas werent getting choked and tossed out by white owners/bouncers on GP or just for shyts and giggles. I have witnessed/heard of that happening to niccas, but only when niccas started wildin'. (as any bouncer would do... kick wild niccas out)

One of the black guys who believed he was being discriminated against on glenwood even protested thepractice a couple years ago, and it caught steam.
