Bruhhhhh, I said this verbatim to somebody before I’m certain…😳, that’s really what it became once trolling and acting like everything laughingly bad is fire and cool because it’s so bad and all that took over. Salute to Mook.

It's wild to think about because there is so much lower to go, and that's exactly what happened! Lil B does not get enough dis(credit) for his influence. Artists are releasing great music, but the mainstream lacks any creativity.

There's plenty of great music being made in this country. I feel like the people who complain about this stuff only listen to one genre of music - rap, specifically mainstream label rap. Even the r&b today might as well be mainstream rap. Lot of great independent rap comes out every year. A lot of great jazz music comes out every year. There is good r&b out there, from people who can actually sing. But because it's not placed at the top of your playlist or right in your face, people want to bytch.

And so as not to sound like a snob...there is dope mainstream rap shyt out there too.
The problem is find it. Amongst the millions of artists vying for your attention.
Find it when you're an adult with an adult schedule.

because you can control the talentless. When a person knows they have talent and cant write/produce/sing/rap their own shyt with the brains to push it to the masses by themselves, you got to change the rules. Now you got talentless people that just want to be famous on IG and this is what you push to the masses because they won't get out of line. They will do whatever you ask them to because they know they are easily replaceable.

Modern music is run by corporations, and their primary interest is making the most money possible with the least risk possible. As a result, modern music is extremely formulaic and tends to follow generic, low-brow trends which they know come with a guarantied audience.

Of course, corporations have always ran shyt. But in the past they didn't have the formulas down so clearly. That meant they had to guess a lot more, which resulted in variety, and executives spent a lot more time promoting their personal favorites, with some executives being good at recognizing real talent. Modern music executives don't push their personal favorites or actually talented artists anymore unless they fit a particular formula that they know will result in profits.

This has ALWAYS been the case though. Nothing has changed in that regard. The biggest difference is that everybody can be an artist now.

The part that changed was the ability to do the formulas. Back in the day it was more of a guessing game, and music execs often backed people they personally liked. That added variety. Now the guessing game is gone because they have the script down to a science.

Facts. And streaming has allowed them to pinpoint exactly what different demographics will listen to.

There was always a science to it. Watch a documentary on Motown and look at what went into getting the music to the masses. Music is an industry for a reason.
