Music isn't gonna be as meaningful as it was when its value hasn't been lower.

Y'all want music to be free? Don't expect music to be cared for the same way. Nobody's gonna sing their ass off or hit crazy notes or make complicated beat loops or say the most thoughtful shyt just it can background noise for a vibe.

And of course, there's fans who expect too much from artists and then there's fans who will accept anything. The accept anything crowd is winning right now.
This I feel with the generations from early millennials and up are usually accustomed to a quality of music. The younger gens I find don’t really care as much. I was playing some Kool G Rap for one of my cousins who’s 21 and nikka was like how do you listen to this shyt there’s a lot of words. :francis:

There's this dude I know who I'm around at Dyckman every summer and any time any old head even mentions Kool G Rap, he'll go out of his way to say he's garbage. Like real hardcore debates between games. You could play him any random shyt local or otherwise and he'll champion it, but if the DJ even plays it just to troll him, he'll flip out and shyt on Kool G Rap. I remember kids were warming up for a game and this old head had Symphony playing and these kids were like "I can't warm up to this shyt, change it." Had to put on some Pop Smoke or Kay Flock or something

It's wild how much nikkaz don't appreciate bars anymore. And Hip Hop is always good when there's a balance of beats and lyrics.

There's plenty of great music being made in this country. I feel like the people who complain about this stuff only listen to one genre of music - rap, specifically mainstream label rap. Even the r&b today might as well be mainstream rap. Lot of great independent rap comes out every year. A lot of great jazz music comes out every year. There is good r&b out there, from people who can actually sing. But because it's not placed at the top of your playlist or right in your face, people want to bytch.

And so as not to sound like a snob...there is dope mainstream rap shyt out there too.

Black america has held tightly to street shyt without growth for too long. Now dope boys with little to no talent screaming about killing they opps family. The average person dont wanna hear that demonic shyt. Plus RnB has been completely over taken by rap. Nobody really can sing anymore. They just put out formulaic RapnBullshyt or "vibe music"

at a certain point you have to blame the consumer. late millennials and gen z are all about making nobodies famous, with no guardrails, anyone can float their shytty music to the public and whether genuine or ironic, there are listeners who can make it pop. there's no quality control from musicians, labels, or fans. i'd argue other regions probably have the same issue, it's just that what makes it here are the more polished tracks/artists

Ice Spice literally makes Cardi B sound like Lauryn Hill. Oh have the might have fallen...

But the indie scene is great though. It's actually a great time to be a music buff right now especially in the age of the Internet but I totally understand why the lack of quality mainstream acts is disheartening.

Afrobeats artists don't make vulgar music, they make music that your whole family can listen to

Even rnb artists are just cringe worthy to listen to now, everyone wants to curse and act like the rap artists do.

A buncha these so called R&B artists are n'un more than glorified rappers backed by studio effects and melodies.
