Was Irvine really the reason any of those guys are over though?

No one really remembers who Sheamus beat at the Rumble or that he won it.

Punk was big before that feud.

Ziggler was still floundering with Vickie till this current angle where he's started to mainevent.

Jericho's 2012 run=filler in a TV season

Going over chris jericho in those fueds does enhance those guys and were heat drawing. And it definitely helped dolph ziggler the fact that he was talking down to a multi time champ and over guy like y2j...then went over clean.

Jericho was far from filler. If you can get an entire audience interested in your return....get hot pops for 3 weeks without saying a single word....fued with the champ, make people buy into that you can go over at royal rumble, and then put over the future of the business, all while being easily one of the 3-4 most interesting people on the screen......

....and you call that "filler"...

...wtf is the typical cody/barrett/kofe/rtruth/sandow/otunga/ryder/cesaro/swagger/miz/heathslater/divas bullshyt???? :mindblown:

He was over for like 3 weeks then the crowd started to get tired of his act and started acting indifferent when he came out. It was so bad he wasn't nearly as over as he should of been at the Rumble. I mean this is the same Jericho who had the crowd eating out the palm of his hand in 08.

The Punk feud was bad except one match. Every promo in that feud was just :snooze: and below what Punk was doing that summer and fall 2011.

And then the Ziggler feud. Yeah Zigs went over but it was a throwaway match that got put on at the last minute. Trust if Y2J was more important that year as you say it would've been much bigger.

It was filler because in the long run the people he feuded with would've been the same with or without him. Sheamus got over because D Bry made him look great, that Punk feud wasn't noteworthy except for Jericho almost busting his ass, and Ziggler didn't start making his way big till this Cena/AJ stuff.

It wasn't a great Jericho return this time and the Punk stuff was underwhelming but they went from it being about Best in the World into some family weird shyt. Weird booking and those kind of guys should know better than to allow PG writers/bookers control how that feud will go.

A lot of heads in here disliked his last return, I thought it was great. Great matches, putting over the younger guys, that jacket #fukkery and everyone that he put over is now in a great position. Dudes were saying he only came back to job but looks like he was doing what was right for business to me. :yeshrug:

More of the older guys should be doing this imo.

The problem isn't that he came to put over the youth (he should have), it's the fact that, after the Royal Rumble, he destroyed his own credibility by jobbing in nearly every match. By the time he got around to giving Ziggler his "big win," his credibility was so eroded that it meant next to nothing (And that's not counting the fact that they gave him the PPV win, only to have Dolph get his win back on TV, then proceeded to have Jericho give him a Codebreaker on the way out).

And I may be the only one of this opinion, but I wasn't much of a fan of his work this time around. The Punk matches were WAY below what they could do (And if you don't believe me, find their match from the end of 2008 in Canada), and everything else was decent to good, which is below Jericho's standard. His best match was the Summerslam match with Ziggler, and that's not something I would mention in a Jericho best of.

The intent was nice, but the execution was way off the mark.

Jericho and Rock have always done that the best, imo. Dudes don't care about winning when they're vets, always done jobs, even when they were on top they took clean L's cause it was the right thing to do at the time

Props to both of them :salute:

So does this mean that Jericho comes out as a surprise rumble entrant and the Shield grabs him up and regulates?
