That may be true, but the difference now is that the UK scene has now grown big enough that many artists like Skepta, Stormzy, Dave, Giggs, J Hus are now selling out shows all over mainland Europe, Africa, Australia, and Canada without needing the US market.

I would assume that Americans make up a pretty significant amount of sales and streams for a large number of UK hip-hop and grime artists.

I think a UK rapper will eventually ‘blow’, as in, go gold or platinum or have a Top 10 hit. Technically you already had Lady Sovereign.

Due to the internet and TV shows, eventually Americans will get past some of stereotypes they held and get over the accent.
