i don't think there has ever been a point guard led team running pick and roll to a championship, so no matter what you see in the regular season from a guard isn't real because that's not how they'll be guarded or who they'll be guarded by in the playoffs.
And also didn't you make the thread about people hyping up this as one of the all time guard seasons just so you could make this thread later when he flamed out
You a smart hater. I like that.
Nah i didn't make no thread like that
Bad thread. He was the best player in that Dallas series last year but nobody came along for the ride.
In game one, he was awesome and the rest of the team shyt the bed. He had 13 in the 4th on 4-7 shooting and the rest of the team was 4-16.
One bad game tonight does not define his legacy. It was not a good look when he was grifting for a foul on their final possession of regulation instead of just trying to make a shot though.
That Dallas team got shytted on in The Finals and proved they wasn't a great team, no one is gonna remember that team in 3 years. Hence, why I've kept saying he needs a moment vs a quality opponent---->people WILL remember the Jokic Nuggets...
I'm not defining his "legacy" off one game, it's only been 7 years......but I am saying it's 7 years in. It's time to have a moment..
There’s been literally 2 -shooting Guards in history who could carry their teams to multiple championships. SGAs numbers look all time great, but there’s no way you watch him play and think he’s on that level.
I don't....but Bill Simmons, Zach Lowe, and a ton of lesser known basketball podcasters said, repeatedly, this is one of the greatest seasons ever from a shooting guard, and
the greatest shootong guard season of the last 25 years...
A dude I work with back in Raleigh, granted he's a lifelong OKC fan and he's white too, said this is possibly the greatest shooting guard season ever. So I also heard someone say this in real life, he said that shyt back in March...
Too early. With Shai, this is essentially his first really bad playoff game in 2 years, spanning roughly 17 games. He's been mostly if not consistently great in the other 16. As a result, this will be the first time where he'll face real scrutiny. Which is different than other stars who have shyt the bed with individual performances multiple times.
So it more-so depends on how he responds from game 4 onward, and ultimately if OKC wins. Remember, Steph had to deal with allegations of not being that guy up until 3 years ago, despite having 3 rings prior to 2022.
This will be Shai's third consecutive finish as a Top 5 MVP finalist...
In '23, 5th place finish, 40 wins, missed playoffs;
'24, 1-seed, 57 wins, beat Pelicans, lost to Mavs;
'25, 1-seed, 68 wins, heard all year how historically great this team is. Beat Grizzlies, are in trouble vs Denver...
3x Top 5 MVP candidate who will win it this year,
where is his moment? When is it coming? Don't give me Dallas last year. He may have been the best player in that series, but they lost in SIX as a 1-seed in the SECOND ROUND. Where is his big playoff moment vs a real team?
When is it coming?
Steph had to fight those allegations from a minority of people. I, you, and most other people knew he was That Guy. At Shai's stage of career he had his title and MVP in Y6 (67 wins) and followed it up in Y7 with a bad ending, but legitimately one of the greatest seasons a player ever had in Y7. I think Shai is a great player----->I never watched him at any point this year and thought, man this is an All-Time great year...
I had several moments in '16 Steph and knew it was one of the greatest seasons ever...
OP been desperate to get the heat off Bron these playoffs.
I'm sorry dog, I never been able to truly acclimate to being an internet nikka. If I make a thread about a guy, it's about the guy I made a thread about. I don't have conversations in real life about one person and be secretly meaning someone else...
I'll never be able to understand the logic of people who grew up and were developed by internet culture...
People in this thread copping pleas
But I keep going back to one common theme........people want to anoint cats as great but dont hold them to the imaginary standards they set up in their head for other players they dont like...

!
So Tatum, who has won a championship as a #1, been to another Finals as a #1, outplayed Durant in a series, and has gone blow for blow in series with Giannis and Butler, is fair game for criticism...
But this is "too early" for Shai, who is only one year younger in basketball years, has led a historically-dominant regular season, and will win the MVP?
Bro had back to back good performances,is outperforming Jokic but has one bad game and is bordering fraud territory
The Coli
He didn't outperform Jokic in G1 or G3, what are you talking about?
