A lot of these players I personally saw wasting money around LA.. Darius Miles and Ruben Patterson

these players have bad money management issues

1. buying parents homes..

2. giving money out to family and so called friends that will never give u anything back

3. buying 4/5 cars, jewelry, clothes for everyday of the week

4. Renting out clubs, boats paying for everyone drinks

5. THE BIGGEST 2 ISSUES. CHILD SUPPORT FOR A BUNCH OF KIDS AND INVESTING IN BULLshyt LIKE RECORD LABELS WITH DIRTY ASS FINANCIAL ADVISORS

I highly doubt he would accept a job bagging groceries.

That's partially his point. He decided to be smart with his money cuz he knows he didn't wanna end up having to do scam shyt for money.

I cant blame him, I personally have way too much fukking pride to do many jobs. I probably have more pride than most people I know when it comes to what jobs I will accept and how much I will allow myself to make.

You will never catch me bagging groceries, and if you do... that means I was a dumbass and someone fukked all my money up.

LMAO!! Coli nikkas are too good for $15-$20 jobs but former millionaires should jump at the chance. Yall wild

I get your point... but if the options are "make $20 an hour, or go to jail...." :skip:

If you cant live lavishly, oh well. You'll be alright. Nothing worth risking your freedom over

So is having no active income while being broke, having wages garnished, repossession, etc. Once you fukk up in life 9/10, the immediate set of choices available afterwards are usually shytty, but there's a less shytty one. It goes without saying you're supposed to choose the less shytty option, and build towards not so bad, then decent, then good, then great options

For some reason Americans in particular feel entitled to having good options, regardless of their intelligence, work ethic, morality, or antecedent choices.

Back on topic, tough shyt for the athletes/celebs/musicians/etc. they got to live a life most don't get to taste and the pissed it away, pick yourself up or commit that. Really all there is to it
Right. If working a job is so humiliating then you should have tried harder to save your money.

All these excuses would never fly on the field, not sure why people think they should work in the real world…

Like a first round pick saying coming off the bench is embarrassing. Ok then play better or retire…

Dudes talking about players didn’t make that type of bread..

it don’t matter if they was making 2 million a year or 20 million a year

they in a industry unlike many of us , where they close to connections

perfect example.. John Salley of the pistons.. only was making 2 million a year in basketball, but like he said he talk with veterans who had connections and was able to earned more money or get involved with other projects by those connections

a lot of these players are like a lot of these rappers.. only care about a certain way of life and how others see them in the hood and don’t think outside the box

Well yeah that shyt goes on, hell people's own family do that shyt to them too by trying to be their agents. That's more of a "people are garbage" thing imo. We hear about those stories all the time.

But making some outlandish conspiratorial statement like "The Jews did this", is some wild stuff. Most of the time these dudes do that shyt to themselves.
People love doing this shyt but they can't blame anyone but themselves.

There's several honeypots for these athletes to deposit their earnings into and have it never be seen again

1) Sleeping around and impregnating a lot of these women and paying crazy child support
2) Divorce/Alimony
3) Cars and Jewelry
4) Taking care of an entourage
5) "Investment opportunities" from scamming or broke family and friends
6) Thieving accountants and financial advisors
7) Huge houses and accompanying maintenance/property tax
8) A lot of them underestimate how much Uncle Sam will be taking out of their checks
9) Medical expenses. Most of these sports are brutal on the body. There will likely be expensive surgeries and recurring issues.

In regards to scamming, especially the government, have fun in prison. You're not going to get over on Uncle Sam for long. Like Shannon said, nothing wrong with a 9 to 5... and it's almost guaranteed for a lot of these NFL players since they don't get paid anywhere near the NBA players and they have a short career. Take that money you made in the league, buy a decent house and start thinking about your future outside of the NFL.

Ive been broke all my life and I cannot fathom loosing millions

I know you remember that ESPN 30 for 30 episode Broke. Even with all the prior examples from previous players, nothing helps. Same with these guys running through the same bag clout chasing thots.

You shouldn't even need a post career if you're a highly successful athlete. The problem is that a lot of these athletes get guilted into taking care of everyone. They end up paying the bills for 5 different households, while also living a superstar lifestyle. The real key is to live modestly when you're on top, that way when it's over you'll have the bulk of your money still in your bank account.

But what you're describing is a generalization because not every athlete is paying for their Yes Men. A lot of them do live modest lives in terms of spending and still get jobs after they retire.

There's cats that's out here that work in car dealerships, construction, pizza joints. Home Depot used to have a program where they employed Olympians.

Whether you're a high spender or living modestly, athletes still work in some capacity because guess what? The bills don't stop once you retire. Still got a family to take care of, kids to put through school. God forbid you get divorced because that's another expense.

You'd be foolish to not work after you stop playing. That's a quick way to go broke. Name an athlete that just completely stopped working after they retire.

Bills don't stop coming, but if you're a highly paid athlete then your money from your playing career should set you up for life. Divorce/child support is one thing, but if you have let's say $50mil in your account after you retire then you should be straight. A lot of these athletes don't pay attention to their yearly expenses.

Says the man who gets paid millions to talk about sports knowing he will never have that struggle.

This is a circular argument.

I won't say there's no reason a 10yr vet athlete should go broke, but regular ppl make that same argument ur claiming Shannon.

They have a once in a lifetime chance and choose to squander it. Gotta have the ability to recognize you're out of control spending.
