I watched a lot of the Sonics playoff run in '96.

Most of the 90's really.I'm a Suns fan, so I remember the battles we had with them.Especially in the '93 WCF's.

Nobody was shocked when they knocked off the Rockets in '96.There was a period from like '92-'97 where the Sonics absolutely owned the Rockets. They were the Rockets worst match up.They were lucky not to bump into the Sonics in '94 & '95---I can just about guarantee that the Rockets wouldn't have any championship banners right now.

But yeah, in '96, I was really impressed with Nate McMillan. He was the leader of that Sonics squad. He used to direct the defense like a coach on the floor.....after him, I'd say Detlef....then GP.

I call Kemp the wildcard.Kinda like how the Hulk is to the Avengers. Not really one of the "leaders", but he was probably the most naturally talented/dynamic.Would beast when he was on, but wasn't consistently great.

That's just the way I saw it:francis:

That's fine, you just don't understand basketball. I don't understand mandarin. We all have weaknesses.

But you don't see me on the Guangdong Southern Tiger's message boards, pretending I know what the fukk I'm talking about.

Kemp was on the Dream Team 2, he had 3 All-NBA appearances... Detlef and Nate's mothers wouldn't put them ahead of him.

Obviously I was speaking in the context of that Sonics team & the way they were constructed.Kemp was more marketable/talented as a global "star", of course. He definitely had an iconic flair because of his athletic grace, but that doesn't mean he was always more effective.

Me not knowing basketball because my perspective of Shawn Kemp doesn't match yours is some snotty nose shyt.

Just let it go

No. Your doesn't match REALITY. It doesn't match WHAT HAPPENED IN REAL LIFE.

I won't let go of you saying Nate McMillan was "more effective" than Kemp, while chalking up Kemp's stats and performances to "flair" Get the fukk out of here.

You are factually wrong about the Sonics and Kemp, this is not a matter of opinion. This isn't like "Paul Pierce is better than Melo" where there's a bunch of grey area. There were two stars and two star talents on those teams. Kemp was one of them. Payton the other. Period.

What is star talent?

Shawn Marion's a star talent, doesn't mean he's great

I recognize Kemp as a basketball icon. He's a legendary player because of the "flavor" he brought to the game.

I can't knock him for that,I think it's warranted.

But as far as him being a great player, I never saw it.Saw flashes, but he was never, as I said in my previous post, one of the top 10 players in the league during his "prime".

I think he was too busy hitting the bottle & knocking bytches up to stay focused.

Breh always had that wino body language

I'm a Kemp stan admitedly so I'll say there's never been a player like him.

Even Blake Griffin, tho possibly better overall, is not the same type of player. Just b/c they're both great dunkers doesn't mean they're alike.
