I'm a Kemp stan admitedly so I'll say there's never been a player like him.

Even Blake Griffin, tho possibly better overall, is not the same type of player. Just b/c they're both great dunkers doesn't mean they're alike.
That's all I am saying.. It's like if u say Blake is better.. Then to some ur saying Kemp sucks..... Kemp was a genetic freak.. He was ahead of in class..he outpowered everyone.. Faster then every pf.. But he doesn't posses Blake's finesse IQ passes and I would say drible as Blake dribles lower...

But Kemp is a personal hof of mine

agree 100%

yeah Blakes handles are on another level from Kemp. he can break you down dribbling between his legs with great control. Been doing that since college.

I watched a lot of the Sonics playoff run in '96.

Most of the 90's really.I'm a Suns fan, so I remember the battles we had with them.Especially in the '93 WCF's.

Nobody was shocked when they knocked off the Rockets in '96.There was a period from like '92-'97 where the Sonics absolutely owned the Rockets. They were the Rockets worst match up.They were lucky not to bump into the Sonics in '94 & '95---I can just about guarantee that the Rockets wouldn't have any championship banners right now.

But yeah, in '96, I was really impressed with Nate McMillan. He was the leader of that Sonics squad. He used to direct the defense like a coach on the floor.....after him, I'd say Detlef....then GP.

I call Kemp the wildcard.Kinda like how the Hulk is to the Avengers. Not really one of the "leaders", but he was probably the most naturally talented/dynamic.Would beast when he was on, but wasn't consistently great.

That's just the way I saw it:francis:

He wasn't consistently great, but the majority of the Sonics post points in the paint came from Shawn Kemp. :what: Kemp's first season playing for the Cle Cavs was highly slept on also.

horrible comparison

grant hill was lebron without the insane athletic ability
i see you and your dappers dont remember grant hill either. he was insanely athletic. he just wasnt as BIG as lebron with that same athleticism.
OVER MUTUMBO( they dont make centers like this any more, dont say DJ, he's a guy with hops but low ball iq)

OVER Zo (another ELITE center that they dont have in todays nba game)

the dude was very athletic. he just played a smoother game and would give guys a slow move then hit them with the wicked cross and bang all over your bigman. most of brons dunks are in the open court or guys parting the seas letting him go right down the middle.

LEBRON IS A CROSS BETWEEN GRANT HILL AND SHAWN KEMP......BUT U HAVE A POINT- YOU PUT HIM IN THE 90S WHEN THE NBA'S FOCUS WAS ON MARKETTING MJ, AND HE WOULD BE IN THE SAME ECHELON AS KEMP, NO DOUBT.

Shawn Kemp and Lebron James's games are nothing alike. Only thing they have in common is that they're both great dunkers.

Pippen is the only 90s player that resembles LeBron in any way, shape or form

Grant Hill, was by far the midrange jumpshooting version of Lebron James in every way. Hill was clutch and automatic from 22 feet in. He could knock down the three pointer every once in a blue moon also, but was a midrange beast, and could rebound and distribute the ball just like Lebron. Hill was the 90s version of Lebron hands down.

Kemp has mediocre career stats......Legendary dunker.

Averaged 14 & 8 for his career

Developed a J late in his career, but by then, it was too late.

The:flabbynsick: kicked in on him real quick.

The spectacular dunks made him an icon, tho.

shawn-kemp-dunk-o.gif

Might be my favorite dunk of all time.

He was a 3rd option "James Worthy" who never found his Magic & Kareem.

My how quickly people forget that Shawn Kemp was like the second best power forward in the NBA in 96 behind Karl Malone. Kemp wasn't no damned third option. Matter of fact, James Worthy wasn't a third option in the mid to late 80s Lakers either.

nah hill has no 3 point shot until he got older and a very suspect jumpshot overall... lebron is better at shooting and d
