This is ridiculous

At work from 9-5 Monday-Friday

That means you have every evening and every weekend to “enjoy life”

That’s more than Enough

It’s truck drivers who work 55-70 hours a week and aren’t home but 3-4 days a month and you got bozos like this complaining that they “can’t enjoy life”

She is a joke and so are the clowns defending her.

And this is the problem. You know the work model is flawed, but you accept it anyway can clown anyone who speaks out against it.

I wasted most of my 20’s working 9-5 gigs. And as my salary increased in my 30’s I was working even more hours. Now you could make 70 - 90k but you’re working so many hours that you can’t enjoy it.
How do “enjoy it “ what do you want to do that working 40 hours a week stops you from doing it?

Shes not talking about no truck driving shyt bruh

Most of the time truck drivers like doing that shyt, like being on the road especially the open road, like going to different cities and like not having anyone up their asses all day while they’re doing it.

It’s no damn commute or anything, nothing overly complex about it. Just getting paid to sit on your ass and drive and make money

She’s talking about the system in itself which we all can agree is fukked up and done on purpose. She wasn’t even complaining about the job. Shes complaining about high cost of living to be closer, the commutes, the amount of time she spends being drained by “adulting” and how boomers put this system in place.

She got out of college and realized this shyt sucks which most of us who have been in the workforce already know and kinda just don’t care anymore. People are legit miserable and “thats the way it is”

I actually think the work model should change. WFH almost changed it.

Then tell her to get a CDL :yeshrug:

Or learn how to be a submissive and feminine woman and she won’t have to work

she's right but people will pour in to say this gen is soft even though many are using one of the many forms of escape available to us to distract us from this reality.

:manny:
Im not gonna go that far, but I will say:

Don’t nobody want to waste decades of time working to pay bills, then live out the final 20 years thinking back on all the shyt they missed out on or tying to do all the things they wanted to do in their 20’s and 30’s but couldn’t.

This.... has always been true. This isn't new for young people "this generation". Its been true for literally every generation that grows up and sees with true clarity what life is going to demand of them. They realize its not all roses and feel that way.

Just feels like a new generation is coming to this realization, but this time they have social media to vent to instead of newspaper columns :mjlol:

People have always worked like hell during the "peak" of their life when enjoying beaches, sunshine and life would be most fun, instead having to wait until their golden years to spend all day lounging around. Thats why everyone desires to be rich or wealthy, because that's the only real way to get to that CONSISTENT everyday part of life before retirement outside of vacations here and there.

This generation is lazy and entitled, even got many of our :flabbynsick: peers acting the same way.

You don't want to work a 9 to 5? Ok, start your own thing and find out you will be working from sun up to sun down to keep it afloat. Use your time wisely now so you don't have to overcome the same pitfalls in your 30s, 40s, even 50s.

You want to wear designer? Then apply yourself to be able to afford it. Want to eat at Ruth's Chris or Daniels? You know the drill. Want to be frugal even though you make good money? Go right ahead too.

If you want to be poor and complain your whole life about how hard it is, you can do that too. But don't expect people to have remorse for you either.

I grew up with minimum wage at $5.15/hour. Today you have Verizon, Costco, USPS, Security, At&t, and a slew of other companies starting at $18+/hour. That's good for late teens and early 20s. People want 6 figures right away, whether they got a degree or not. The satisfaction of seeing yourself progress is a great feeling, but too many refuse to put the work in.
Yeah, that 18+ an hour might have sounded good 20 years ago, but in a world where the average rent is 1700 for a 1br apartment and the average house is going for damn near 400k that 18 might as well be 5 dollars an hour. You literally have to make six figures to not be living paycheck to paycheck. With the way inflation is going paired with salaries not even remotely keeping up the issue is more than just worker harder or start a business

This is an interesting point because a lot of these 'nerd' companies (video game publishers, anime studios, VFX studios, even pro wrestling companies) will intentionally hire fans, because they know those people have made their fandoms their entire personality. They will overwork and underpay them and expect them to take it because they're working on their 'passion,' even though they will never see even 1/10 of the money or fame of an Ed Boon.

Burnout is also very high in these industries, but the turnover is also very high because there's always another group of nerds willing to do more work for less pay and benefits.
Yup.

Additionally, Ed Boon and John Tobias were also highly skilled at what they did and just ain't the normal person.
Ed Boon just wasn't a talented artist/creative, but had a Math and Computer Science degree from UIC and has a knack for directing a vision and working with people. Mortal Kombat had had 30 years of pure creativity and ideas. Not a lot of people can output and execute new ideas like that duo. Not to mention have a lot of enjoyment doing it.

Companies expect people everyone to punch out like that but those people aren't working on their own original IP and like you mentioned will get paid peanuts for something they find out they're not THAT into. MK was Boon and Tobias's baby. They're working for themselves on what they created. People may even be hardcore fans of a franchise, but when you dig deep down most of them probably wish they invented the whole thing or were working on something they came up with instead where they could just run and implement idea after idea. As most will not get that opportunity, burnout will start piling up and companies will move on quick the next person who hasn't come to that realization yet.

Literally this!

Imagine grinding away at your high-skilled dinosaur job/industry, thinking you're getting it in but 20-year-old kids are making $110/hour. :heh: :mjlol:

I know how it is for tech regarding those internships and new hires are as well - your expectations are pretty low at the company until you get your feet under you.
So chances are they're getting paid much more than you and at a fraction of your stress.

I was talking to a mechanical engineer and they said they were looking for a place paying about $80k ($38/hour) to $90k ($43/hour) at their next job.

They have four years of experience.

That Netflix kid is potentially pulling in nearly a $230k salary, with zero experience - look at the job listing.

Like I said I know a software engineer making $500k with 4 years of experience and an incredible comp package to go along with it all fully-remote.
Dude said he works about 10-20 hours a week (because the team has done a great job setting an efficient system up). That means some weeks dude is pulling in $1k/hour.

These companies are dinosaurs man.

Ya'll really defending this trash culture rather than asking companies to step the fukk up for making you come into an office.
Some fully expect you to put on a suit everyday to "look professional" :snoop:
They don't even compensate your gas then you got to be in an office or share a cubicle next to someone with gas :scust:

To those of ya'll defending this trash, think of that Netflix internship role when you look at your next paycheck.
Are you really getting paid what you think you should be?

That's why I have a real simple motto for these companies, especially if they ever want me to come into an office.

It's very simple:

fukk you. Pay me.

Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high

To keep it a buck, she’s 100 percent right. The current work model doesn’t work in todays society for the most part. I got this off a yahoo story, and the boomers and Gen X comments were shytting on her.

They were told to work hard all your life then retire and relax. Don’t nobody want to waste decades of time working to pay bills, then live out the final 20 years thinking back on all the shyt they missed out on or tying to do all the things they wanted to do in their 20’s and 30’s but couldn’t.

It’s why there’s a mental and physical health epidemic in this country. It’s why drug use is at an all time high.

And to top it off, the money you don’t make doesn’t take you that far. You legit gotta make 100k in most metropolitan areas just to live comfortably.

Younger people are realizing, that 9-5 shyt is bullshyt. I didn’t realize it until I was in my 30’s. And that’s not including layoffs.

She’s having a culture shock. Most young adults have that when they first start working. I almost quit my third day into working full time and somebody had to talk sense into me.

Our whole…everything is messed up. You’re supposed to work to live, they got you living to work.
Happened to my sister out of college too

Luckily, she had already interned there the year before so she knew what to expect at the work place

Also, she works for a major company and makes decent money to live in the city. The company also has a lot of incentives in place to make her commute easier/less stressful and things in place at work to make the actual job even less stressful.

She barely even uses her car she says and only keeps it for emergencies

Y’all still talking about this broke whiny bytch? :gucci:
Say the same to her y’all say to black folks when they post about money issues. Call her a broke dusty and to get her paper up. Also tell her she don’t deserve any hoes or any hobbies because she a “brokie”.

You nikkas see a white bytch crying and it triggers something in y’all to throw yourself on the tracks for her. More regard than your own people. :scust:
